Blood work back, I went to the surgeon about band troubles, possible revidon to sleeve, had a lot of blood test done, my vitamin D level is low "16", doctor put me on 50,000 IU CA PLIVA. 1 cap, once a week for 3 months Anyone know why it would be so low and anyone else dealing with low Vit, Dx

I don't have an answer about why that would happen, but I had the same issue. I'm past the point of taking the 50,000 unit doses to bring the level up, and I now take a vitamin D supplement daily. To keep it from happening again.

Part of it it where you live, anywhere that doesn't get alot of sun or if you don't get out in the sun much can cause a deficiency. I know that dry vit D3 is better absorbed than other types. I use a cheap brand from Safeway grocery stores. It is chewable and srawberry flavored. My levels seem to be staying ok, not great but better than they were.

I get plenty of sun, I love the outdoors, I drink as much milk as I did, 2 per cent some times. Just wonder how long it has been low.  I googled it and was shocked at the symptoms of low Vit D. I have almost all of them.
