A Slip, a leak, and it's unbuckled

What people are not thinking about is the fact that the stomach is a muscle that can and does stretch. The same reason bypass patients regain their weight due to pouch stretching, the sleeve has that potential and it will stretch for many patients. Not all, but a very real situation. We will see this in the next  couple of years. Goodluck and wish you success.

The difference between the RNY pouch and the VSG sleeve, even though both are from the stomach which is a muscle, the pouch is made from the fundus which is the very stretchable part and the sleeve is made from the least stretchable part.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Hello, congratulations on your success and baby, sorry about the band problem. You have been successful. Your surgeon should just replace the band with a new one. Don't take the risk of having a sleeve when you have done brilliantly with the band. If you did not lose weight with the band, I would understand recommending the sleeve.

Goodluck!

Thank you for all of the replies. I have an appt on the 9th to discuss my options and to set up my surgery. I will not get the band again, that I'm certain of. I was on the fence of getting another surgery or just try to do it on my own. I'm not really confident with the second option.

I will know more next week.

Glad to hear you won't be getting another band.  I hope all works well for you.
