I am 2 years post op, starting weight was 372, my lowest was 318......now back to 335. I am active..walking, bike riding and weight lifting, but weight hasn't budged in almost a year. I am healthy...just over weight. Any thoughts? I have been kicking around the idea of a revision. Anyone else been through this.

Sometimes revisions are necessary but first you need to look at why the weight is not going. The old idea of all calories being equal is controversial these days but the basic fact remains that if you are not losing weight, you are taking in more food than your body is using. You can eat round all surgeries if you try hard enough! So IMO the first thing to do is evaluate honestly how much you are eating. Over a week or so, measure and count by mouthful.  It can be a nasty shock!

Is the band helping you at al? If not, do you need a fill?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree with Kate, first you have to figure out how much and what you are eating then adjust from there. If it is the wrong types of food ( heavy on the white carbs) then you need to address that. If it is a matter of too much food then a fill may be needed. I find journaling my food is the very best way to keep things under control for me. As much as I dislike my band I would try all the above before just jumping to a revision because you can "eat around" any surgery. Good luck!

I agree with the others.  If you are eating any white carbs at all no surgery type is going to fix that.  Flour, sugar, rice, pasta, and for non DSers, potatoes.  Regardless of which revision you get it won't work if you don't deal with the carb demon.

Are you sticking the the calorie goes set by your doc?  That is usually anywhere from 600 to 1200 calories daily.  It takes a good many calories to maintain a 335# body.

How is your restriction?

Restriction is good. I don't eat pasta or breads. I will try the journaling. Thanks!

Great!  What about the rest?  Sugar, rice, flour in all the other foods other than breads, and potatoes?

Most of us tend to have a trigger food.  Eat a little/crave a lot.  For most it is sugar.  For me it is flour.  Anything with flour.  A bite of gravy made with flour starts my carb cravings full blast.  A piece of bread, a tortilla, bread stick, cake, anything with flour.  Maybe identify which food is your trigger food and start to really monitor what you are eating.

Have you considered a carb detox?  It's basically 5 days of verrrry strict Atkins.  On day #6 you start adding in foods such as beans, lentils, and veggies.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I have been writing everything down for the past couple of days, higher protein, low carbs ( trying to cut them out except for the fruits and veggies). Keeping calories between 1000-1200.

You got it.  If that don't get it going you may need to look into a revision to a surgery with mal-absorption.  I'm losing doing that and am down to my last ten pounds.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
