Annual PCP visit yesterday
I had my annual well check up yesterday. Doctor reviewed my operative report for band removal with me. He was appalled at the damage that was noted and the tremendous amount of scar tissue removed. He said the medical community is disappointed in band outcomes and the high % of serious complications that are occurring. He was pleased with the small weight gain I've experienced, told me I look great.
Thanks Annie! I was cautioned about aspirin, ibuprofen in tablet form, since it can get caught in the nooks and crannies of my severely dilated esophagus from the achalasia. I'm limited to liquid NSAIDs with a lot of water after. Also was told that the scar tissue may re-grow, but to be alert to increasing symptoms. For now, I'm optimistic that without the band irritating the vagus nerve and tissues, it will grow slowly or not grow at all.
