How many times a day to eat?

I wonder how many times should one eat per day when trying to lose weight?

Should it be the traditional 3x's a day, or 5+ small meals a day, or something else?

Myself I think 5-6 small meals is better as it helps keep blood sugar levels more stable so less chances of cravings.

I don't think it's possible to say that there's one way you "should" eat when trying to lose weight. As Kate said, "whatever works for you."

With my band, I ate six small meals/snacks a day and lost 90 lbs.

With my sleeve, I have to eat 8+ times a day because I'm constantly hungry. My surgeon says it's not true hunger (in that I need fuel) but an insulin response to any carbs I eat (even healthy ones like veggies and fruits). So that backs up what hislady said - that eating small amounts frequently helps to keep blood glucose levels steady.

Other benefits of eating frequently are that it helps me feel less deprived, and also it's very hard to make good food choices when I'm ravenous.

With the band I ate a little all the time.  With the sleeve I have three "meals" and three "snacks"  There really isn't much difference in what I have for the two.  I eat some solid protein first with all.  My "snacks" are usually just protein.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
