Pain and diet question
Hi everyone. It's been quite a while since I've been here. I had my lapband placed in Dec 09 and initially lost 40 lbs. I went back to school and ended up meeting someone and got pregnant a year later. My daughter was born almost 2 years to the day of having surgery. During my pregnancy I gained all the weight back. I've since managed to lose 25 lbs of it but then ended up hurting my back really bad and needing to have surgery this passed May. During my recovery, I gained 15 lbs back. I've just barely started working out again and want to get back on track eating correctly and I know there's a 5-day diet to jump start our weight loss but I can't remember the name or website. Can anyone help me with that? Also, I had a long run with a migraine in which my migraine meds were not working. I started drinking a coke along with taking Tylenol and Motrin (which actually helps) but now I think I have carbonation stuck under my band and I'm having a tremendous amount of abdominal pain. I've actually had this pain before and was guilty of drinking a coke or two then also and when my surgeon removed all my fluid, I burped a lot and the pain relief was almost immediate. So I'm thinking that is what the pain I'm having is from this time. My surgeon doesn't have Saturday hours and nobody else will touch my band regardless of the pain I'm having (and regardless of how simple it is to remove fluid from a band). So my question is, has anyone gone through this and do you have any tricks to getting the carbonation to move (thus relieving the pain) or just go away since I'm apparently going to have to deal with this for 2 more days?
Try some gas x strips for the carbonation issue, if that doesn't help then I agree with Bette get to an ER, the pain could be many things. If you are talking about the 5 day pouch test, that is primarily designed for RNY patients tho other surgeries do it also but it doesn't really do much for anyone else. Just go back to band basics, protein first, then veggies in the appropriate amount. Also ditch the sodas! You know it just causes problems have some coffee if you need to add caffiene, make it iced if you prefer that. Look at the right side of this page and you can find all kinds of info on your band life.
