What shakes would you recommend for the pre-op surgery diet for the lap band?

Its a personal preference but I tried Unjury unflavored at my docs office before surgery and that was my choice because it is really unflavored so you can put it in whatever and has 20g protein. I hate taste of other protein powders...yuck!

So weird. My preop diet (in 2003) didn't involve shakes at all, just 1,000 calories - low fat and high protein.

That being said, get what you like. I had Isopure recommended post op and I loathed them. The shakes I have now - I have one with iced coffee concentrate in the morning when I go to the gym - are Atkins Dark Chocolate. But again, what I like, you may hate.

Best of luck on your journey and let me know if I can do anything to help. At almost 10 years out, I've been through a lotta band life.

If you have time order lots of samples.  You can find Unjury and Syntrax samples.  I really like the Syntrax Nectar which are low carb.  I also got the Premier Protein from Sams/Cosco/Wal-mart sometimes.

You are lucky, I had to get the Protein Powder kit from our center's source, BetterMD.  I did find out from research a friend did that they are made by WonderSlim which anybody can buy.

My favorites were the Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino.  I had bought 6 of the big tubs.  I went thru the Cappuccino fast, than the Fuzzy Navel mixed with Orange Sunrise Crystal Light went next I also liked the Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Bean and Strawberry.  I HATED the natural Peach.

Good luck with the pre-op diet.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
