Absolutely YES!  I wish I had gotten the sleeve, without having to go through living with the band first and having 2 surgeries.  Actually 3 surgeries if you count the port replacement.  I truly believe that the band is a bad device.

When you hear other folks say "you will only find band bashing here" you need to ask why that is.  The post above that points out all of the errors in another post is accurate.  The person on this thread who believes the band is a good choice, has not lived with a band.  Everyone else on this thread has.

The band does not work for everyone, and it shouldn't, it only works for people that will WORK their band and have a great surgeon that offer good aftercare, you always have to be mindful of keeping up with the aftercare, fills, exercise, and be mindful of your new eating on a restricted band, many people just are not willing to do those things.

There are many people that regret having their bands, I am not one of them though. I am going on 8 years and I had a new band put in last year and I am very happy I did, I would do the band over and over again, as long as my insurance pays for it and I don't have horrible complications.

Good luck on your decision.

The band does not work for everyone, FACT

and it shouldn't, it only works for people that will WORK their band FOUL!!!!  just another misconception about the band you can be a "perfect" bandster and still suffer complications, and this is probably the BIGGEST reason so many that have had a failed band  HATE IT, it's the constant  belittling from others telling US that is we JUST WORKED it we too, could have been successful....If the BAND  Slips, erodes, causes our esophagus to stop functioning, or causes us PAIN, then HOW exactly do we continue to WORK IT?cool

and have a great surgeon that offer good aftercare, you always have to be mindful of keeping up with the aftercare, fills, exercise, and be mindful of your new eating on a restricted band, many people just are not willing to do those things. We would IF we could

I as well as others here, also have lives, but we chose to HELP when we can , Good Luck and I can only Hope

You had to have another one put in??? LMFAO! I am not even going to go into how absurd your post is when it includes that statement.

I've had both the lap band and the sleeve and I absolutely wish I had gone with the sleeve initially. I wasted too much time and effort trying to get my band to work.

I lost my weight with the sleeve because it gave me consistent restriction and allowed me to eat healthy foods. Between the two, the sleeve offers a much more normal fullness sensation. Regarding the other posters claims that sleevers are "more nauseated and sicker," that just sounds like nonsense to me. I was far sicker many days with my band than I've ever been with my sleeve. I didn't experience nausea other than maybe in the few days immediately post-op and that was there with both my band and sleeve surgeries. I had some reflux for the first few months after my sleeve, but mine was easily controlled with an over the counter PPI.

You couldn't pay me to go back to having an oversized stomach or a band.

Best of luck in your decision and your journey!

Same story here.  Had the band.  Had the problems.  Have the sleeve and am down 45 pounds lower than I every was with the band and was just hoping to get to that low and stay there.  So much happier with the sleeve than I ever was in the almost 4 years with the band.

I didn't have the option for a sleeve when I was banded, glad to hear you do.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
