Getting back on track with eating suggestions
I need to get back to eating correctly I have def lapsed in the last couple of years. I was thinking of going back to following the guide they gave me before surgery. 1 week liquids then another week of liqs then softs then solid stuff. Has anyone tried this or should I just stick to eating what is on the list for the solids and softs? I want to get a jump start and really get back to how I use to be. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions just frustrated that I fell back into the hole of eating like crap! Thanks

Usually if you just cut out ALL white carbs that does the trick. No flour, sugar, rice, pasta, or potatoes.
I nwas thinking of going back to the eating stage on my nutrition guide that says rapid weight loss where you are eating like 1000 a calories a day. It's eating more meals but smaller ones I think I eat good and then never lose. I can't get anymore fills my band is very sensitive so that won't help me either =(.

Well, white carbs are what got most of us fat to begin with. We didn't get fat from a steak and salad for dinner. This really is an entire lifestyle change. Changing habits that got us into this mess to begin with. Besides, white carbs are sooooo bad for you!
When I was in the losing stage I kept calories at 600 a day which was easy to do because with the band I couldn't eat solids most times anyway. ;o) I did three protein shakes daily and a decent dinner when I could in the evenings. That is what worked for me, you need to find what works for you. My doc did not agree with 600 calories a day, he suggested 800 but I wanted the fat chapter over with.
Funniest part is I am working out like 3 to 4 days a week I never did before lost of cardio and a lil weights to build muscle. I know it's not muscle that I gained. i just think I am eating ok and it's obviously not good. A sample day I eat
Breakfast
Special K Breakfast Flat minus the flat
Lunch
1 PC Grilled Chickek slice o fresh Mozzarella and 2 tble spoon of sauce with roasted peppers (granted it's from the deli but I thought pretty basic)
Snack
Pro Shake
Dinner
Turkey burger with Cottage cheese
Obvioulsy there are a day or two I eat something I really want. I know my other prob is drinking I'm a beer drinker (i Know I know Bad) Does anyone have idea on a drink that is a good sub?
Thanks everyone for the responses

You may want to go back on mushies for a while to shake things up, and I would change the cereal to a protein type like Kashi GOLEAN.
Also if you are getting sauce from a deli, it may have hidden sugars and extra calories, you may want to start cooking yourself, and making planned meals, of roasted or grill chicken.
The exercise sounds good though.
Kashi GOLEAN is not really a great option for WLS folks. Our food is limited and we need to get seriously high quality nutrition and protein. This cereal without milk is 160 calories, 9gms of sugar, and a whopping 35gms of carbs. That is almost a full days worth of carbs for most WLS folks. For all those carbs it only has 13gms of protein. A general rule of thumb is that our food should have more protein grams than carb grams.
High carb diets are what got us into this mess to begin with, they cause a blood sugar spike. When that happens the pancreas produces insulin to bring the blood glucose down and when the body produces insulin, it is the insulin that turns those carbs/blood sugar into body fat.
But I am quite sure your support group already told you this.

I do. Water. ;o) Seriously, beer is just going to stop your weight loss, all alcohol will. It's loaded with empty calories. All your efforts for the day are wasted as soon as you drink alcohol. I think most will tell you just one drink, one beer, one glass of wine and their weight loss comes to a dull thud.
Not only that but the risk for transfer addiction in our population is soooooo high, is it really worth it?
I would also cut out anything made by Kellog's or Hormel. Both are so seriously bad for you, loaded with chemicals and preservatives and expensive. It's expensive to eat like chit regardless of what others say. You can make your own for a fraction of the cost and a whole heck of a lot better for you. I've learned to nuke scrambled eggs! Seriously, I have! Disposable bowl, no dishes! I realized that if you can nuke frozen eggs you can nuke your own and they taste way better!
What kind of protein shake? Meaning, how many calories and carbs when it is done and over? Do you add milk? Is it a pre mix? Do you add fruit?
I like sausage so i try to stick with Turkey sausage and I don't eat the bread (flat) with it. I has eggs in it.
I know liq is not helping but I know I am gonna have drink on a fri night. I lost before and I was drinking I ate a lot better though.
Pro shake is like 140 cals 30 grams of pro low in sugar 3gms and I use soy milk 30 cals and ice.

I don't know about turkey sausage but I do know about turkey bacon. So I am just going to throw this out there.
Turkey bacon has about the same number of calories as real bacon but it is LOADED with sodium. Have you compared labels of various breakfast sausages? I don't know! Maybe in this case the turkey sausage is better. I'm just throwing out the comparison for you to check.
There are two reasons not to drink while losing weight. #1) the calorie issue. But more important #2) when you lose a massive amount of weight it is all metabolized through your liver. It is common for WLS folks to have elevated liver enzymes during weight loss. Drinking any alcohol on top of an already over taxed liver is not wise at all. Is there a reason you can't wait for goal to have your Friday night beer?

BTW, do you realize how very few veggies are in your diet? How in the world do you poop? ;o) Seriously, could you add some steamed veggies in there? You can do it with microwave steamer bags, no dishes to wash! Just put them in there with whatever spices you like, nuke to the point of tenderness you like and you have a snack or side dish.
