Support is all about the negative as well as the positive. When asking  for Help, I'd be doing anyone a disservice to tell them yes go ahead get another band, So I don't and I won't... I could have chosen to have my band replaced, I chose not to , I can still have Bariatric surgery IF I choose to , I'm extremely fortunate to have that coverage. But I have been successful with my weight loss from the band and I don't need to revise, will I? I don't know. That is the beauty of  A CHOICE  enlightened We all have it .

I never had a leak, but I had my old 4cc band replaced last year with the new AP band, and I am very happy I gave the band a new chance, I feel 100 percent better and loving my restriction.

May I ask what the AP band is? I had the lap band in 2006 and I lost about 30 pounds and wasn't able to get my fills so I gained all of my weight back plus another 50 pounds. Last year, I had the fluid removed and replaced again and had no change of fullness. I am now 450 pounds and feel like I am slowly killing myself. I would love to either find out if the band is even any good anymore or just have it replaced with another one. I have never been in such poor health.

Thank you all for your feedback.  My doctor did sent in paperwork to have the entire band replaced with a new one, but , my insurance (Aetna through HCA) declined it. My doctor will be sending in another letter to see if they will cover the  tubing repair, I have called my insurance company and was told that they would cover the removal and as for the repair, it will also cover that, but they need a letter from the doctor.   I've even been considering calling my dr's pt advocate to see how much it would cost me to have gastric bypass. I would have to pay out of pocket, but if they offered financing, I think I would do it. I just really hate that insurance will only cover one wt loss surgery/lifetime.  For those of you that have had revisions from lapband to bypass, what insurance do you'll have or have you'll paid out of pocket?

WITH GOD, EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Have you tried fighting the 1 bariatric surgery per lifetime?  Mine had it too.  I had to proven all the medical problems from the band.  They only approved the removal.  After the removal and the proof the band did indeed cause the issues, I was able to appeal and get the revision surgery approved.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
