Help finding a health insurance provider that will cover Lap Band surgery.

I have wracked my brain for the past weeks looking for a health insurance that suits my needs. What I would honestly like is to hear from other people their experiences with their health insurance and the lap band procedure. Please help, I just want to have this surgery so I can change my life for the good.

Some info about me, I live in North Texas, i'm 23, and possibly in the future I would wish to have kids.

Other members could tell you the name of their insurance company and whether their band or other WLS (weight loss surgery) was covered by their insurance, but coverage depends on the terms of the individual's policy. For example, my health insurance is Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, with great WLS coverage, but my policy is only one of many offered by Anthem. If you're currently employed and your employer offers health insurance, ask your HR department for detailed information about the plans available. If you're not employed, finding insurance that covers WLS is just the first hurdle, because the bigger hurdle may be finding a policy with a premium you can afford and with deductibles and co-pays you can afford.

You might be able to find some information on the OH insurance forum, here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/insurance/

You could also try posting on the Texas forum, here: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/TX/a,messageboard/board_id ,4845/

Good luck!

Sadly, 99.9% of private ins plans exclude WLS.  I would look at self pay options.
