Surgery on Friday
I can't tell you how relieved I am that Dr Pelligrini thinks that my damage is at least partially reversed. I'm sad at the loss of the tool I thought would help me regain my health, for sure, but optimistic that I can continue to lose even without it.
I'll be staying in the hospital at least until Sunday, maybe Monday, depending on what they find.
Wish me luck!
So glad to hear you are finally getting that band out. Wishing you a safe and healthy surgery and recovery.
Just curious, are they making you doing any pre-op to get ready. They didn't have me do anything at all. Called my surgery at 9:15 am and was home at 1:30 pm. Than four months later I had to do everything like a virgin WLS, including a stress test and another liver shrinking diet.. Strange they could do the one but not the other.
My Dr. goes the same route of yours. He never does revision at the same time of removal. If I decide to revise it will be starting from the begining to meet insurance requirements, etc. I started the supervised WL sessions already so that will be out of the way IF I decide to have a revision. I figure it can't hurt, although at this point I'm pretty sure I could give the class! Ha! If only I could execute what I know!

I did they same Lisa. I started a supervised diet and exercise in January. It was a last ditch effort to get the band to work. When I had the band removed 9/4/12 I already had 8 months of data which the insurance accepted along with the appeal. My center was taken back that I already had the 6 month, 6 therapy sessions with their WLS therapist done by the time had fought and won approval all before I had the "initial consult" for the second surgery. The only thing left to do was their Nut class (second time too) and pre-op testing and liquid diet.
I'm going to do the supervised diet too, just in case they say I'm a go for revision.
That sure is a long stay. I know your have way more than your share of problems. I didn't have the HH with the funcky stuff, they called my removal surgery at 9:15, got me up in recovery, out the door and home by 1:30 (including a 1/2 hour drive.)
We will be there with you in spirit!
I think my surgeon just wanted it out and on to the next. Didn't know at the time he and another surgeon where leaving the practice. They only gave "60 day notice" with the holidays meant about 14/16 business days.
