emergency lap band removal

Sorry to hear your daughter had to go thru this.  Glad she came thru it OK.  Some haven't been as lucky.  Does your daughter come here.  It might help her to read the boards.

Not sure why anyone would get a tummy tuck before getting the sleeve?  The sleeve would be the next step after the stomach has healed from the damage done by the band.  As far as the tummy tuck,  I have talked to three Plastic Surgeons.  The first from Mexico gave a free consult at the OH conference so I had nothing to lose.  He said I could do the turkey waddle now but, have to wait about a year after getting to goal to do anything else like the TT or inner thighs.  I have gotten consults with two PS here about the neck and both agree with the first.  Neck OK to do but all else had to wait until about a year after loss.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I was one to do it in the wrong order. I pretty much had the "works" done in plastic surgery as soon as I reached goal. Btw I loved my plastic surgeon, I went to Mexico. Anyway, long story short- I gained weight. 95 pounds before I revised to the sleeve. It's also weird that since my PS I gain weight in different places. Now I gain weight above my stomach but below my breasts ect....I am 8 weeks out from the sleeve and down 40 so far. I just know my PS results were compromised, but just curios how much will bounce back. Time will tell. My opinion is if your daughter is nervous to get the sleeve, make sure she at least weights a year to see how she maintains. I figured since I could loose, I could maintain. I was unfortunately wrong.

Maintenance is the hardest part of all this.  No way around it.

I really have a hunch this person is just yanking our chains.  No person would get a TT in order to not gain in the future.  That is silly.  That is like getting my left toe removed to make my fingernails grow longer.

I thought she was a troll so did research and found this from The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)

Didn't work for me lol! Lets remember tummy tuck is a generic term. It can range from artistic skin removal to full tightening and sowing of ab muscles. Not good if you ever want to have a baby, great if you did have one.

Recovery from TT is Faaaaaarrrr worse than recovery from bariatric surgery and more trauma to the body. I had RNY- never had an electrolyte issue. I had TT and never had less hunger from it.

Do more research....Pulleeeze. Hugs!

My tt held - even after 10 yrs and 80lbs of regain. I had my RNY in 2002, had my LBL in 2005, regained back to 250 and had my BOB in 2011. My tummy is still flat as a board.  However, I had a fabulous Upper East Side Plastic Surgeon. My boobs - which I had done in 2006, still look fab as well.  My arms, not so much.

Hugs! I think the only thing worse than having the typical Lap-band experience would be having it happen to your child!!!

Glad your daughter is fine. I would however hold off on the plastics until she revises. I think that should be the first priority. Good luck!
