An Honest Persons Version of their Lap band Experience Versus Sleeve
on 5/19/13 12:44 am
It's good to hear that your Sleeve experience is much better than your bands. I can eat all foods with my band too, always have been able too, unless my band was dangerously too tight. Yea trying to find the sweet spot with the band can be annoying for many, but once you find it, it's like gold.
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
Why do you think this person is honest? Do you know her personally? Have you ever met her? I really hope that the intent of the title of this thread was not to imply that others who post their experiences with the band are dishonest. If so that would be pure PA BS.

Sorry if the title sounded as if I was implying everyone that has/had band issues are not telling the truth. Remember *I* had band issues too and had to get a revision, so I guess if I felt that EVERYONE that has issues are band abusers including myself I would not have posted this.
Can the band cause misery and pain? Yes, I had many days of pain with my band, but it was not frequent or everyday otherwise I would not chose to get a replacement. While I developed a hernia with my band, SO can someone with the Sleeve, RNY or DS, they ALL carry potential of horrible complications, you don't see folks on the Bypass board harassing people daily and WE ALL KNOW what kind of horrible issues RNY can have.
Suffering from complications is horrible for anyone regardless which surgery they choose and no one wishes that on no one, but some here believe SOME of the band bashing and reporting issues are over exaggerated and if they can't have the band as tight as they want without issues, then they will make sure no one else have a good life with it too by destroying the "support mechanism which is stupid because other surgery types have just as many AND MORE complications than the band does.
I just simply posted this video because I found it interesting of how she used her band versus how her Sleeve works for her. Also remember everyone does not vomit with the Band, there have been MANY that have never ever vomited and could eat all foods just small amounts.
But unfortunately this board has become EVERYONE will suffer and have complications with their bands and portray banded life for EVERYONE in a wrong way.
I could experience hernia issues again with my new band, but should I come here every single day and aggravate those who are trying to stay on track with their weight loss and tell them they will suffer the same fate? No, it's not fair to those how are not having issues.
I think if can move away from the Band bashing to supporting each other regardless of which route we take would be beneficial to all .
