Wouh what happened to this forum?
Hey my lovely friends. Haven't posted in a long time. (Short summary: banded 2008, lost 150lbs, got prego, gained 60lbs, had cute baby boy, now trying to relose the prego weight). Used to love this forum, even with all the drama. There was a LOT of great support here. It seems like it's pretty much gone, sadly.
I know people are getting revisions. Is that the issue here? I guess I don't see why it needs to be a sore spot. It's the life cycle of the band. When I got the band, I knew it wasn't a forever deal. It was hard for me to imagine myself living with it forever. But it saved my life. That's my story. After pregnancy, apparently there is evidence that people rarely reach their green zone. That's ME! I'm filled to the max (no more fills allowed) and I don't feel much. So do I revise? Maybe? Maybe not... that's my personal choice and I think whatever choice anyone makes is a good one.
We are all here to SUPPORT each other, no matter where the path goes. The goal is BETTER HEALTH. Not a competition. Didn't we have enough of that in high school?
Miss you all. Not much time to post with work and a hyper baby. But this place brought me success.

Elena, good too see you're back! What's happened is that most of us with band problems aren't experiencing the band running its "life-cycle". We're experiencing life long GI tract and nerve damage from the band. We're not competing, just sharing so others won't go thru the same thing. The acrimony comes when we're told we don't belong here any longer. No, we're not in high school, but those who've abandoned this forum cause people don't play by their rules act as if that were the case. Some seem to have lost their sense of humor, others are unable to deal with the potential of dealing with similar issues in the future. It's too bad, but I continue to post my journey, because it is relevant.
More preop testing for potential esophageal damage needs to be done. This is my mission. It's not one I'd choose, but it is my reality, since I have a non-functioning esophagus and have at least 2 more surgeries in my near future to regain some function.
Welcome back, I'm truly sorry this forum isn't what it was, but unfortunately it is a reflection of our reality. Read the sticky at the top of the page, by Dr Roslin. Pay close attention to page 2.
I just read page 2 of that post by the doctor. Thanks for the info. I think he is right on.
Too much bickering and not enough agreeing to disagree. Every post became a battle zone and lots of folks just got tired of it. Also I think lots of people have migrated to Facebook private, closed groups, I know I belong to several there. If you never lose another pound you are still so much smaller and have that adorable little munchkin to keep you busy!
What happened to this forum? That's something I ponder myself. It would be great if you (and those lurking on the forum) would keep posting and help get the band forum back to a safe and supportive place. In the meantime, congrats again on that darling baby boy. He's hyper? How could that be? Maybe he's taking after his very smart and active mom?
