Hi everyone. I'm glad I found this place. So excited to have a place to share and learn from everyone! Can you all tell me which band I should get? Realize or Lapband?

Have you looked at all your WLS options?

Whatever you choose, I wish You the very best.

I thought about gastric bypass but I don't want everything rerouted!

In all honesty I can't advise the band for anyone as it is the least effective surgery even when it does work. I would suggest looking at the sleeve if you don't want malabsorbtion. Even better look at all the 4 main surgery types band (wouldn't suggest, sleeve, RNY and DS, then make an informed decision that you can live with the rest of your life.

It's least effective? My doctor told me as long as I followed the band rules that I would do good with the band.

many follow the rules and never reach their "green zone"  others follow the rules and end up with serious complications.

following the rules with the LapBand is not always a guarantee of success, unfortunately.

Thanks Pineview. I will read that, but I am leaning towards the band. I do what to learn as much as I can before I get it though.

Can you get one that goes on the OUTSIDE of your body? That's the one I'd choose.     I'm not being sarcastic, really.  I wouldn't choose either. The band can be very damaging.  I don't recommend it.

Good luck to you. I hope you can find a lot of information in your researching.

What do you mean it can be damaging? Do you mean like then there is a port leak or slip? They told me about that.
