Dr Roslin's assessment of the band

With all due respect, you didn't answer my question.
none of my md's ever mentioned it even when i had fluro etc i just started seeing the word achalsia looked it up and am now becoming aware of the dangers of this with the band. I knew about slips and erosion but am just now realizing how much higher the risk for these are than I was ever told.thank you to everyone who is getting this info out
I was feeling "stuck" with an empty band, regurgitating food from days before, chest pain, palpitations when eating. I have mild Gastroparesis and severe achalasia, thanks to my band.
Tests: EGD, Gastric Emptying Study and Esophageal Manometry. My egd was negative on all biopsies, ges was positive for slow gastric emptying and manometry showed NO muscle activity in the esophagus.
The groups I belong to are Failed Lapbands and Realize Bands, Cool People with Achalasia. I have a couple more, but those will get you started. I'm an admin on the band group and can add you if you request to join.
I'm a firm believer that manometry needs to be done prior to sleeve and band surgeries, since they are both "high pressure" systems, and preop testing can determine who might be at risk.
