My New Facebook Friends! Warning! Negative but True Post Ahead!

I've made some new friends this week on Facebook.  They belong to a group for esophectomy and achalasia.  I figured I might as well since if my achalasia doesn't resolve after band removal, I'd best be informed, do my research and make sure I again choose the least invasive option with the highest success rate.  Lets not forget re-routing of organs...wait, I forgot, this time I don't have a choice.

All preops, do your research.  This complication is becoming more prevalent.

Thank you!  The worst part of this has been being told I was a band brasher, irrational, didn't belong here.  I'm finding many more people out there like myself and helps to have my experience validated.

Are you scheduled for band removal soon?  It's not a given that your complication won't resolve after band removal, is it? I hope that having the band out will help. I know that I truly believed that having my band out wouldn't help and that the damage had been done. But it was like night and day. With the band, I felt like death... and I didn't even realize HOW bad it was until after it was removed.  I'm hoping and praying that your body will heal after the band is out, Steph.

Hi Nic!

I'm meeting with Dr Pellegrini on the 30th.  Since I'm hydrated and only losing a pound a week on my ice cream and cream soup diet, and he's not available till then, I decided to wait on him rather than see his associate.  My GI doc and a friend (physician) both were adamant that I see him and only him.  They told me on the phone interview, I could be admitted immediately after my evaluation, or when he gets my test results.  They might want to do a repeat manometry and 24 hr ph test on the 17th.

The most concerning thing is the heart irritation and the possibility of losing my esophagus, that's scary sh*t!

We're at our sons house, Internet is intermittent since I rely on my iPhone for mobile and they are between two towers...they went to Hawaii for their 24th anniversary and we're staying with the "fourth triplet", our youngest 15 year old grandchild.  We'll go home for the weekend, so I'll be on line then...but I'll be around as long as I have a signal

I'm glad that you're being taken care of.

I really hate that this is happening to you. It's a nightmare.  I just hope that things will get better after the band is out. Please know that I'm truly thinking of you and hoping for the best.

xoxo

Nic

Thanks.  I don't think some of the others here truly understand what this means and how serious it is.  RIZ on the off site group is having a horrible time and she has two little kids to care for, makes me so angry.

I think you're right.  It's very serious.  That's why we need to keep posting, no matter what. People need to know what you're going through. I'm glad you're sharing it so they can be forewarned.
