REALLY DISAPPOINTED

BOTTOM LINE!  this is the most bizarre post!

You just joined OH on the 28th.  You come here like you've been here forever.  Perhaps, you have and you are just using a new name to come here and scold all of us for our honesty.

Did you ask for support or encouragement?  I don't see that post anywhere.

I have every right to be here.  I've been a LapBander  since 2008.  I've lived the life, I've had the success and the heartache.  I lost more weight in my State with the Band than any other person.  I've done TV and print ads for my surgeon.  I have every right to tell my story here on this forum.

Yes!  There are negatives with every surgery.  This is true, but few WLS tout "the Least invasive, reversible" claims and then cause some such devastation.  We all believed.  We did our part.  And many have not reaped the benefits.  How many with the Sleeve have failed?  vs How many with the LapBand have failed?

You seem like a very disgruntled - unhappy individual.

I hope you never have to eat your words, (like I did!) -- because you might end up PB'g.

Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months!  My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12!  I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve!  Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!

LilSleeve...do you know how silly you sound? There are no failed Sleeves? Please read through some of these posts maybe they can help you understand, there are A LOT more than this with Failed Sleeves.....There have been MANY Failed Sleeves, MANY *****vised to the Sleeve from the Band did not lose 1 pound...NOT 1....MANY are too embarrassed to post about their Failures...because they bashed the band........They just disapppear into the night from the boards...

The MAJORITY of posts on the Sleeve board ARE FRESHLY NEWBIES...not 3-6 years post op....that is a danger sign right there...sure you can say they are living their lives...But MANY did not lose weight and MANY have regained due to the Sleeve stretching back out. And those who ARE successful are VERY SMALL LONG TERM, or they are dieting....MANY ARE ACUTALLY ASKING FOR LAP BANDS...there are BANDED SLEEVES, if you want the studies I will post those also....My old surgeon says he was getting MORE CALLS for FAILED Sleeves wanting BANDS OVER THEIR SLEEVES at 3-5 years out, just like Band over Bypass...you did not know that did you? You REALLY need to do your Research about a procedure before start yelling at folks....

I've been on this board longer than you and I am SICK and tired of all the smoke being blown up folks noses...if the Sleeve was perfect and did not NOT STRETCH, OR cause dumping, or horrible reflux and burning or Hypoglecemia at 5 years post op...I would be at my surgeons office NOW asking for a Revision to the Sleeve..

not a good sign for anyone looking into the Sleeve....

laughI will be banded 6 years on May 1.  I love my band and have had no problems at all.  I lost 70 pounds so far and plan to be at goal in the next 18-24 months.  My only set back was getting dealing with cancer for 2 years.  Chemotherapy, surgery, steroids, etc, made it difficult to lose weight.  I think the problem with the band is that weight loss is not fast.  People expect it to work like the Rny and it doesn't.  I have love my band.  It saved my life.  I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.  I would be well over 300 pounds now if I did not have the surgery. I se my surgeon once a year for a check up and tiny fill.  If a problem should occur...I will deal with it.  All procedures have risks. Go with what you are comfortable with.  Good luck!

angryThat's wonderful, Annette.  I mean that.  Glad your chemo didn't keep you from getting back on track.  I just wish people could hear the message that more pre op testing is needed and rethinking some of the rules around banding.  Keep up the good work.

She should read this, posted on OH before sounding off her same ole same ole.  Not that it'll happen.  For every sleeve post she has linked many can be found for the band   I just care about letting people know my story.

Bands boast of being the safest surgery type and they are!!!  I do no dispute that FACT.  But long term bands are the most dangerous surgery type, sleeves are safest long term.

I came here looking for support and encouragement. Yet all I see is negativity. I see people BRAGGING about having their bands taken out and encouraging others to do the same. Is there ANYTHING  positive here????  My two cents ...if you got your band removed good for you. Maybe it was the best decision for YOU. Please go to whatever other WLS forum that now fits your needs and leave the rest of us alone here.  I am sure that the sample of negative nellie's here is a small % of those who have had the band. There are those of us trying, really trying to do something to save our lives.  For every surgery there are negative outcomes  but there are positive outcomes too.

THIS is the forum where I started my WLS journey, and THIS is the forum I choose to continue on that journey. YOU may block every single one of us who are negatively impacting your WLS journey with our personal LAGB experiences.

I love my  band. I would be morbidly obese no energy person without it. But, it took me about 5 1/2 years to feel that way about my band. I have a problem with getting too tight with a fill, so right now I have only around 1.25 cc in a 4cc band. I just got used to eating things that were compatible with my band. I still mainly eat protien now. I wouldn't maintain or lose without making protein a part of my life.

Weight loss is very slow and takes tons of patience. Good luck and I hope you succeed!
