Now it's Dead

Well, by "fair and open" they (the folks who are complaining) mean that no one should say anything bad about the band.   I'm going to keep warning people about the dangers of the band as long as I feel it's necessary. I hope you will, too. People who are happy with their choice have nothing to worry about.

I'm really and truly sorry about your esophageal problem, SM. I hate that you're going through this.

I have been on this forum for a long time off and on, and I honestly see more people being attacked when they post about their complications from the band, band removal and revision.  Just the other day there was a post by Naomi where she referred to folks that have had band problems as liars and repeated the old story that we must have brought it upon our selves because of non-compliant behavior or "not following the rules".    I think the right thing to do here is to continue to let both sides be presented.   Had I seen posts the way they are today, back in 2007, I would have chosen a different surgery type and saved myself going through band surgery, port replacement surgery, several fills/unfills - with associated radiation exposure, and revision surgery.   I am pretty open minded, but after seeing the posts here over the last couple of days, even I have to ask, where this hard sell of the band is coming from and why would a successful surgeon have so much time to spend on a message board doing it.

I definitely would have chosen a different surgery.  I've had 7 barium swallows, 2 fills, 1 unfill (under flouro) and eaten radioactive eggs then had 4 pictures taken with a gamma camera.  That's a buttload of radiation.  I'm not done yet.

It seems that this poster is invested in the success of this forum.  You have to ask, why?  There are other WLS websites and he s a member on at least one other.  Why come here, invade our cyberspace and tell us that our complications are our own doing.  I wonder if any of the pts that were negatively affected by his actions were told it was their own fault?

As far as n is concerned, she has me blocked and I'm honestly glad.  She upsets my already upset tummy.

From what I have heard at least 5 of them wouldn't be in a state to hear anything they are told at this point in time.

I am so sorry for all that you are going through.  I hope things get much better for you and that you can enjoy being well again.

The block function doesn't just stop them from seeing someone's post, it also stops that person from seeing theirs.  So I don't get to see Naomi calling us a liar.

With Naomi, if you've read one post you have pretty much read them all.   Way too much text to say the same old nonsense.   It's like listening to Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, you know there are a few people that actually believe that crap, and there is nothing you can do to convince them or her so you are better off just reading it for humor.

Good example, Susan...all n is focused on is discrediting sleeves to justify her decision to reband.  Every post is the same song, different verse.

The block function doesn't just stop them from seeing someone's post it stops the other person from seeing theirs too. I wish the blocking function did as stated, then I could follow the thread and they wouldn't have to be bothered by me.

MHO is that blocking is juvenile but to each their own, I just don't think that the other person should be effected by it.

Holy hell!!!!!!!!!!!!  I might just have to start posting on outside sources PRO OH!  You guys are actually allowing our truth here?  I am totally impressed!  I don't mean that in a cynical manner, I mean this literally.

If this really is your stance, perhaps we can bring back the band board!

Thank you.  Sincerely, thank you!
