    6-7-13 band removed. No revision. Facebook  Failed Lapbands and Realize Bands group and WLS-Support for Regain and Revision Group

                

I don't even remember half the folks there but some have gone over to the "other" place, a lot have gone to Facebook groups and I guess the rest must be out living their happy lap band lives (she said sarcastically). It is a far different board these days!

 

I became a regular here in 2007.  This board was once addicting because it was so much fun.  I do miss those days.  The only fights we generally had were over using protein shakes and with the DS'rs when they came over and picked fights.  Oh well.  Life goes on. 

I see I showed up on the list, so I'm providing an update to everyone. I've often wondered how others were doing as well, so I'm glad you posted this.

I signed up for OH in 2009, got my band in August. Was SO excited about some help with weight loss. Put for lots of effort with diet and exercise, kept my band on the loose side and was very conservative with fills. I ended up losing 63 pounds and then started having problems at around the 18 month mark. My band suddenly started getting tighter and tighter all on it's own. I went through several unfills, only to keep experiencing problems.

Turns out the excess scar tissue that built up underneath the band was causing tightness around my stomach that was much tighter than the band ever was and toward the end it was barely allowing food through. This tightness caused me to end up getting bits of liquid and tiny particles of food into my lungs which had the potential to cause a lot of problems long term.

I had the band out in December 2012 and in the same surgery revised to the DS. I'm still a very new newbie with the DS, but at this stage I am much more pleased with the DS experience than with the band. 

Nice to see you!  Glad you were able to revise.  It's a Lapband ghost town here lately.  It's an unfortunate reflection of the increase in complications, decline in people choosing band.
