Hello Tonya,
I just posted similar to you I had Lap Band in 2008 and also was a failure to day I saw my Dr. and he said to remove the lap band it has not worked for me to consider Gastric or Sleeve so I have two months to think about it. My question to you is how did you decide Sleeve?
Thank You

Hey Tonya,
Of course I remember you -- and I am so sorry to read that you have had such a hard time with your band.
I sometimes feel guilty because my band is still working for me while so many others are struggling.
I hope that you are able to revise to a solution that will bring you health and happiness ---- my very best wishes go with you.
Kath
Remember the Sleeve is only a restrictive procedure. If the Band didn't work for you due to it being restrictive only I would say the Sleeve won't work either. However, if the band didn't work because of it causing you to vomit and slime, then the Sleeve might work. Grazing and eating chips and slider foods will still be an option with the Sleeve.
My surgeon said that the Sleeve is a great option if you did well with the LapBand, but not a good option if the LapBand was a struggle for you to control your eating.
I just wanted to share this.
Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months! My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12! I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve! Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!
Hi Tonya. I'm new to this site, and you're post was only the 3rd one I've read. However, in doing so, I felt as though I was reading my own story.
I had lap band surgery in November 2011, and to date, have only lost 30 pounds. I had actually lost that weight loss by February 2012, but can not seem to get past this point. I fluctuate a pound or 2 daily, and I am thrilled that I've been able to maintain, and not gain all my weight back, but I have to really work on it. I too, have experienced segments of restriction, throwing up, not being able to drink coffee of a morning to get my band loosened, to having deflates and being able to eat anything in sight,
I also had arthroscopy knee surgery in May of 2011, and still having some issues, so that has prohibited me from exercising to help with my weight loss. But I still feel that for as much as I have cut back on portions, the way I now cook foods, no more soft drinks, very little bread product, and just changing my entire intake of food in general should have constituted more lbs. off! \
Have not been happy with my facility through all of this. It reminds me of people bowing down to do anything for your business, and then once you purchase from them, they don't want anything to do with you anymore. On to bigger fish to make more money! My sister had surgery 3 years ago in January in IN, and has lost 94 pounds. But in sharing info with her, she tells me that she is at the office 2 1/2-3 hours each visit. She sees a nurse, a dietician, the doctor, and they take the time to talk with her, and answer any questions she may have. Heck, she has even asked them about my situation since I can't seem to get my people to take the time. When I go for a fill/deflate, I'm in and out within 30 minutes, and to see the dietician, it's a separate appointment and more $$$!
I am very discouraged, but if I have mine removed, I will not be going back in for any more gastric surgeries!
Wishing you the best with your sleeve.
I was probably one of the jerks. I mean, even my avatar is a jerk.
I get so sad when people think that those of us who have had band complications are just talking about them to be jerks. What a waste of time that would be.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Maybe you'll help someone else avoid the same.
