Fitbit and other "all-day" monitors
I love my FitBit, but I'm also trying to see if I can "walk across the US" by wearing it everyday. Currently I'm challenging myself on my non workout days to hit 6500. I NEED to be looking at it towards the end of the day to "make" myself walk a little more but I haven't been.
I just bought a heart rate monitor so I can see how many calories I burn during exercise. My current goal is to burn 2000 calores a week.

I had a Fitbit and I loved it...it was wonderful. I wore mine on my waistband. One day at work I was busy pulling files and making copies all day for auditors. Well I must have banged it up against the counter because...the next thing I know one piece is still hooked to my waistband and two more pieces are on the floor!!! I was sooo sad. I broke it...I broke it good!!!
If you get one..my suggestion is to hook it to your bra. If had done that I would still have mine!!! Not to mention if I bang my chest on something my Fitbit is protected by lots of booby padding!!!
I have an app I use in my phone called MOVES that I have used and liked a lot. And since we all carry our phone with us everywhere it's perfect to use as a pedometer.
I thought it was worth it. I just have to wait to buy a new one. Maybe I will get one for my birthday. But I would like to get another one. It made me more aware of my movement and I would step it up if I was not doing as well. I also liked that the Fitbit could monitor your sleep too. I liked that I could download it see my progress from the week...I like graphs. I miss my Fitbit.
Like I said I wouldn't put it on your waistband if your doing something like I was...you could end up breaking it. I kick myself all of the time. It's been about a month since it broke and I still mourn the death of my Fitbit.
Love my fitbit. My hubby and I each have one and we can get competitive. We'd like to get them for other family members for Christmas & see if we can get some healthy competition going. I like it cuz it can monitor your sleep patterns & stuff too. The company I work for is encouraging pedometer use & stuff in that if we wear them and get to a certain level of steps in a year then we get different incentives. For my fitbit I have to be careful with my heartrate at the gym. It can get too high. There's a HR monitor that looks like a wris****ch & it communicates to me if my heart rate gets to high & then it communicates to the fitbit when they are both plugged into the computer to track my steps and my cardio. Pretty cool. Gives me something else to be obsessive/compulsive about rather than food. Hmmm... a health transfer addiction?
btw, we got ours on amazon.com for less than what they had at the sporting goods place. I heard some costco's have them but did not see them at ours.
