Job situation takes a turn

Okay, the job "situation" has taken a strange and unsettling turn. On the one hand, I have a 3-day-a-week editing job at a place that I like, a place that I know, a place that is the next town over. Nice pay rate, can't beat the commute, but it's only 3 days a week (for now, anyway.) It's comfortable.

On the OTHER hand, I've been offered an editing job that's FIVE days a week with full benefits, substantially HIGHER pay rate (REALLY high!) . . . . but it's halfway around the world in a second/third world country.

Do I uproot the "family" - which would mean HAVING TO LEAVE THE DOGS BEHIND (giving them to someone else) - sell the house and move somewhere I am unfamiliar with, no nothing about, with no support system of friends and family?

Oh! And I have to decide, put the house on the market and get my ass there by the end of April, which means Paul will be left behind to handle the house sale and giving away the dogs.

This whole thing came up very suddenly and I am so, so torn.

I am so sorry the job market has been tough on you!!

I wish you the best choice for your highest good!!

Unless you are really want an "adventure", I'd stay at least in the states or a place equivalent.  What about hubby's work?  Dogs are family aren't they?  It is why I can't have a pet - I am not settled enough to commit and my heart would break to even think of giving them away.

Listen, we can make anything work if we want to - that is up to you, it's about what you and your loved ones want and need.  I probably am off, but it seemed you were out of work for a long stretch of time.  Don't know how long you've been employed - time flies, still it doesn't seem long enough to be on your feet again.  I'd want to feel stable, connected, rooted yet that can also be a mistake.   Sometimes you've gotta choose the adventure so that you don't spend the rest of your lifetime wondering???

Only you can decide Bette.  I wish you the best possible outcome with whatever you decide.

All Best,

Layla

Well damned,  I hope you really do have that charming 3 day a week gig - it sounds like a nice one!  Actually too nice to let go because it is just enough time spent with enough left to do something else of your own liking of course.

Best,

L

Wow- you have a lot to think about!  My first thought is,well there are more important things than money- security, stability, overall happiness.  What does your husband think?  I take it he's willing to go with you.  I just got the sense from your message that when it comes down to it, moving 1/2 way across the world is not something you want to do.  Good luck in your decision!
