Interesting Anectdotal Information re Lapband complications vs Sleeve Complications
As I was perusing another site, it occurred to me that they post the number of topics in each forum. That's when my curious mind went "hmmm?"...
The complications forum for each site (each is dedicated to one particular WLS) show significant differences in the number of topics:

I think the numbers tell the story...
And yet, there are so many ostriches with their heads buried in the sand. It's a shame.
Are we really so desperate to lose weight that we'll risk our complete health to do it? Rhetorical question... I know that the answer is "yes." (Because I was once that desperate myself.) Now I know that being fat isn't the worst thing in the world... chronic pain from damage caused by the band is much worse.

I have said this before and I'll say it again. The LapBand existence just makes me sad AND a little angry.
I know what it's like to have both procedures and the difference is night and day. Each person gets WLS for the same reason, to be a healthy weight. Most work very hard, follow all of the instructions and do as they are asked - with the Sleeve, they lose, they meet their goal and they are happy, with the LapBand, they struggle, take the long road to their goal, IF they ever reach there and then end up having a complication and another surgical procedure! (yes! NOT everyone will have a complication, but the odds are against a LapBander)
I believe if you want to be a healthy weight, the Lapband is not the answer. If you want to work hard and see results, you need to find a different solution. With all the evidence that is out there, I am very surprised anyone gets the Band anymore.
Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months! My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12! I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve! Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!
