Fills
There is no one answer to this. For me, I needed a fill for about every 15lbs I lost (as the fat between the band and the stomach wall decreased).
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I had very few fills. I kept a close eye on my hunger and if I was getting hungry in less than 4 hours after eating my appropriate portion, then I knew it was time for a fill.
In my 14 ml band, I think I had 6 mls when it was removed. Very teeny tiny fills did the trick most of the time.
Listen to your body and do what it tells you. Don't allow yourself to be too tight, you want just enough restriction to keep you satiated for 4 to 5 hours on 1/2 to 1 cup of soild food.
Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months! My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12! I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve! Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!

I saw my surgeon every 3-4 weeks for the first 6 months and got fills when it seemed right. Like Kate said, about every 15 pounds.
i was losing about 5 pounds a week at first ..when that slowed down then I saw him every 6 weeks
I always booked my next appointment before I left ..... Part of my journey to goal was my commitment to "show up" and see the doctor whether I needed a fill or not
like probably had about 7 or 8 fills along the way to goal.
now I see my surgeon at least once a year
I've been on these boards for over 8 years, and never heard of Almanza as a DS surgeon. I suspect he's scamming you, and I would NEVER recommend a band over a DS stomach. First, you need to examine what you're eating. The DS is pretty forgiving, but it's not a free ride. If you're eating a lot of carbs, then its time to cut back. If you're strickly high protein and low carb already for several months and seeing no results, then its time to see a reputable DS revision surgeon - and they aren't cheap, to see if a re-sleeve or common channel adjustment needs to be made. Being you didn't use a reputable surgeon for DS. who know's what's going on inside? You may have some kind of home-grown hybrid for all you know.

The biggest thing is NEVER, EVER keep a tight band! If you start to slime very often and I mean more than a few times a month for no reason then you need a partial unfill. Being too tight causes so many problems, you just don't want to have to deal with. Like the others I only got fills when I wasn't staying satiated for 4 or 5 hrs. Two years ago however I had to get a total unfill because it kept tightening for no reason, because scar tissue builds up under the band eventually.
