You mentioned: then it seems only right to delete the Lap band portion of this SITE and BOARD

They should...LOL...the band board has been dead for about 3 years now -- and as of late hardly any activity unless IT'S PROBLEMS, in 2006 the band board had more activity and lap banders than ALL the boards, before I deactivated a few years ago (due to negativity) I had over 300 friends on my list, but of course many have gotten removals, etc.. and many have moved on with life especially if someone is not having problems there is no need to post.

Other lap band sites report problems and issues also...just like Sleeve, RNY and the DS boards, but they offer more support and less band bashing...since ALL weight  loss surgeries comes with risks and issues...NONE are problem free....other sites are more friendly regarding getting help with any type of band issues....there is a BIG difference in reporting problems and downright being negative and band bashing constantly.....that's why this board is dead......and probably will never come back..due to all the negatively....

Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*,  lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

What did you decide to tell your navigator?

Were you able to check out the failed lap band group before you made your decision.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Thank you everyone for answering my post. After 3 years of slightly looking into the idea of WLS and several intense months of recently researching via seminars, doctor visits, internet, forums, chats, family discussions etc... I have made my decision. I feel the "Sleeve" is the best option for me and my life style.  Surgery is Tentatively scheduled for March 25, 2013. Fingers crossed, Hope I am finally on the path to being happy with me.

I think that's a great decision.  I wish the sleeve had been available to me 3 years ago!

You are saving yourself a lot of pain and disappointment, in my opinion!

Good luck to you on your surgery. I hope it's uneventful and goes perfectly.

Skinny2b, I can not believe that with all the horror stories of suffering, scarring, pain, revision surgeries, PLUS published studies showing an at least a sixty percent failure rate, often with NO weight loss, that the Lapband is still be considered a viable choice.

Logon to Lapbandtalk or other forums about the Lapband and read for yourself the suffering of those who have had themselves banded. It is very sad, very sad.

Then read the forums about the sleeve (my choice). It is the difference between night and day.

You get the sleeve, you make it thru the first week - not all that hard, the first month, six weeks, three months, six months, and then a full year and you are there, baby.

Just don't get ANY cut rate surgeries or surgeons whatever you choose to do, and for GOD's sake, stay away from Tijuana!
