I guess what I am asking is did any of you had trouble telling your other 1/2 and what was the out come? Thank you for your help!

My conversation went something like this:

Me: Honey, I'm going to have weight loss surgery. What do you think?

Him: If that's what you want . . .

Me: Don't give me that "if that's what you want" ****! Tell me how you feel!

Him: Well, I'll worry about you, but if you think it will be good for you, then do it. You know I'll love you no matter what size you are.

Me: Good. Because I'm doing it.

I came home from my GP Dr and told him I was going to look into weightloss surgery.

He said What? I said it is my body and I am doing it so you better get used to the idea!

I dragged him to the information seminar and all the support groups!

He came around and supported me, which I knew he would since he as stuck with me and I with him thru all my weightloss years. So he knew I was serious about doing it.

ps I lost 107 pounds on ww kept it off about 4 years. :(

I was just going to say...

Me- I'm getting WLS if you don't like it there's the door!!!

But then again...I'm divorced...maybe it was my abrasive personality or maybe it was his girlfriend...hmmmm

I made my decision and than says own with my husband and told him that I had decided to have Realize Band surgery.

i told him that I needed the boost that WLS would give me and I needed his support ... And some money.

i knew I had to be self pay and I did not have 12,500 in my personal account, so I was going to 'borrow' it from our joint account.

He told me that he was 100%behind me, that we would pay for it together ....... He is my biggest cheerleader!

Me: I want a gastric band. Will you pay for it as I haven't got enough money!?!?

DH: have you totally researched it, is it safe, are you certain? If yes, then OK.

If he is a great husband, he will support you. If he doesn't initially. It may just be worry for your well being.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Please reconsider while there's still time, Vickie.

The band is just not all it's cracked up to be. It's very damaging and not a permanent (or even long term, honestly) solution.
Please read the Revisions forum here. You'll see SO many people revising or trying to revise to another WLS. It's disheartening, to say the least.

Best of luck to you. I really hope you'll take my words as trying to help because that is sincerely my intention.
Take care,

Nic

Good luck to you with what ever surgery you decide to have :) .

I have a wonderful husband to and he supported me  because he knew how badly I wanted to lose the weight and the band seemed like a good way we discussed it and I got his permission . Talk it over with your husband and listen to him , do your research and make sure he is on board for the long haul because for some ppl it can be a rocky journey for others smooth sailing either way you will need his support  . ~ Cindy

Cindy,

Thank you for your reply. I would like to know why if this is a lap-band forum why all the hate for the band? Is it that bad? Did you have trouble with your band? I know the road will be long and hard. I am not looking for a quick fix I am in for the long road?
