Nutritional help?

Hey everyone,

So, I was banded January 21st, 2013 and so far I'm loving the fact that I have this band. I was always a volume eater and would sit down with a bunch of food and just gorge myself, and so I love the band because it has obviously helped tremendously with that. However, I'm running into one problem that I wanted to ask advice on...I am forever TIRED! I'm thinking I may not be getting enough of a certain nutrient or something, maybe? I do take a multivitamin everyday (unless I happen to forget). But maybe there's something else I'm missing? Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any advice on what I can maybe do to help this?

Welcome!

Of course your dense protein first! But why don't you give us a perk at what your new normal menu looks like for your day of eating? We use to have a daily food post here on the lapband forum, but I have not seen it up and running lately. It could give you something to consider.

Are you exercising?

And what time of day are you feeling tired at? Are you getting enough sleep?

Well, it's very embarrassing for me to admit, but I'll be honest...I haven't done so well with meal planning and coordinating a proper meal schedule. After surgery I stuck to the doctor's orders when it came to only eating liquids, then soft foods, etc the first few weeks after surgery, and now that I am cleared to eat more types of foods I've mainly just been eating twice a day and I'll usually just eat whatever I know is easiest. I know it sounds very silly that I haven't smacked myself in the forehead (especially after re-reading what I just wrote) and said "Well that's it! That's why I have no energy!" But with my college/work schedule I haven't been able to figure out how to get all the required meals/snacks to fit into my day yet, and on top of that I'm not even sure WHAT to eat throughout the day when I am at work since I can't cook or prepare a meal while I'm at work. At my job there is no concrete time of the day that I have a break time scheduled. I take my lunch break when I get the chance, sometimes I get 30 minutes, sometimes I get my full hour. Sometimes (like the other day) I worked an 8 in a half hour day without a break at all because we were busy and we had a couple co-workers out.

I feel tired pretty much all the time. I feel that I am getting enough sleep but no matter how much sleep I get I still feel tired.

You should journal what you are eating.  Make sure you are getting in all the protein you plan is calling for.  You need that protein to heal and not use your body's muscle. Fluid is very important right now too.  Keep track and make sure you are getting at least 64 oz+  Do they have you taken suppliments.I have to take two multi and 2 calcium plus vit D a day.

I Had my revision surgery on the 22nd and when I don't get in the protein I find those few days I was really tiered too.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Hi pine,
thats true, any stress you put your body through (and lordy lordy surgery does cause stress on the body)! So you should pump up the protein.

I'll go with the up-the -protein replies. We eat so little we can't just grab whatever comes to hand. We need to spend time making sure we get a balanced diet. Very easy with s limited intake to simply not get enough quality food and protein.
