OFF THE BAND WAGON
HELP...I had lap band surgery approx. 4 yrs ago, lost 60 lbs, with about 40 more to go, but the last couple of years have lost my momentem, put about 10 lbs back on and am struggling really hard to stay on some type of weight loss program. I am a stress eater, or emotional eater and have been going through some really hard times financially which has caused me to eat, fall off the band wagon. I have not had an adjustment in over 6 months because I cannot afford the copay. I know I have worked really hard to lose the weight I have lost and have tried to keep off. I do not have a support system here in this little town I live in and feel like I am on no mans land. It is hard to accomplish my goal with out a support group. Sure could use some help and advice to get back on tract and when I am able to afford to go back to my doctor for a fill would love to show him that I have succeeded. Any advice? If you can swing it get into counseling. So much of our challenges come from our minds " emotional eating"! It's hard to "sit" with our feelings, easier to eat through it and numb it. OA has phone conference type meetings that run every few hours, so many are food addicts.
Of your doctors office has support group meetings begin attending. If not,
- begin journaling your foods here to the daily "what are you eating" post. List if you are exercising there as well. Maybe seeing what others are eating can spur you on.
Basics: get back to carb counting!!!
Dense protein first (solid)
Water
Exercise
Journaling
You can do this. A little tip, anytime you eat a piece of fruit have a protein with it. The protein neutralizes your taste buds, and won't set you up for cravings from the fruit. Blood levels stay stabilized.
I go every morning for 30 minutes on the elipticle while I watch the morning world news. I figure it is better for me to be a lil productive while I am watching tv.
I am an avid walker, at least 3- 4 miles a day, it is part of my therapy!!!!! My ME time! I also see a counselor who specializes in eating disorders.
Come back an don't give up, admitting you need help is a huge step in the right direction! On my profile page I have a
" 8 signs of emotional eating" from my doctors office, it's a great tool and reminder.

Exercise is not a LUXURY!
Exercise is a NECESSITY
PreK> I have been following your advice on having a protein everytime I eat a carb. This has been so helpful. It stops me from mindless crunchy on carbs because I have to figure out what protein will go with that. If nothing else it helps me stop and plan what I am getting ready to put in my mouth. Thanks for the tip!
