I was recently diagnosed with a motility disorder of the GI tract.  Just wondering how many other people here have motility disorders, specific Dx, what changes you made in your diet, etc?

Try JeanM. Think this is what she had.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Jean has esophageal dismotility.  I'm looking for people with more of a systemic disease, but thanks.

Checked the failed bands board.  I think that's a huge issue there.

When my troubles started, I wasn't aware that I was having symptoms of gastroparesis and other motility issues.  I thought it would be good to post this here, get a discussion going to create awareness of this condition, which can be caused by upper abdominal surgery, obesity, diabetes, stomach virus and vagus nerve damage.

I had esophageal dismotility.  But I also had issues leaving the stomach, this was just called IBS.  But I haven't had a flare since the band was removed.

Issues with gastric emptying are a progression of IBS that is worsened by the band.  In doing research for this condition, gastric resection/reduction is sometimes helpful.  Isn't that interesting?

Sure seems to be accurate in my case.
