My Fathers chances

I'm worried sick someone please talk to me.  I didn't make my fathers Dr appt. and they are sending him to a lung Dr because he only blew 40 on a test he was suppose blow 70 on.  This is all the info I have.  Is the a huge set back with these numbers please someone help me.
