Stuck.
I had lap band surgery in 11/11. At first, I lost 70 lbs., but have gained 40 back. I am taking a medication that causes weight gain, that certainly doesn't help. I am feeling like a failure. I exercise and diet, but my weight won't budge. Michelle.
You are not a failure! The first thing you should do is to get rid of that idea. Then, form a plan of action. Do you have enough fill? Do you log every bite you take? Are you staying as low carb as you reasonably can? Are you getting all your fluids in, plus more? Is what you eat primarily dense protein and veggies? Are you staying away from excess salt? Just the stuff in processed foods. Have you tried switching out your form of exercise? Have you tried adding between 100-150 calories a day for a week or 10 days?
All these things are things you can try on your own. If you don't see changes then I would contact your nut for her suggestions. Be prepared to show her your food logs. I am sure they have come across this before. If this med was started before you got your band I would question this but it sounds as if you started it after. This will take hard work and dedication but just consider it a blip in your radar. Don't give up now, you can do this.
Be sure to get to support group meetings and come here frequently in order to keep your head in the game.
Good luck, Sue
Thank you both for the good advice. I will get rid of that mind set, and try some suggestions. Michelle.
