I'm struggling-dont know what to do!
You're welcome Stephanie!
I had no intention of being augmentative, but the OP didn't ask for Nana's commentary on the Sleeve vs the LapBand. If you noticed, I never once mentioned my LapBand problems, I posted what worked for me to lose almost 300 lbs with my Band. Nana is so obsessed with the Sleeve, she has to bring it up every chance she gets and then slam those who have had complications by saying IF they had gone to their doctor's regularly, it would have been avoided. It just gets old really fast!
I apologize to the OP and I hope she was able to gather some good advice from the posts she got here.
Lost 271lbs with my LapBand in 22 months! My Band malfunctioned and I gained almost 42lbs and then revised to the Sleeve 9/24/12! I lost another 140 lbs with my Sleeve! Loved the LapBand and Lovin' The Sleeve!
Please ignore the argument between Nana and LilSleeved. The history of conflict between them is nothing for you to worry about unless you're curious and have plenty of time on your hands. The most important advice given here is from pineview. I pride myself on my communication skills, but pineview got it exactly right.
All I want to add is that your doctor will probably be glad to see you coming back for help. I've heard so many bariatric surgeons express frustration about patients who disappear on them. If your own surgeon yells at you for that, you could swallow that bitter pill or find yourself another surgeon, but you might be surprised - you could be treated with caring and concern.

Jean,
I don't start arguments, I end them, I gave the poster the information she NEEDS to succeed with the band, I don't care about personal feeling about me, what I do care about is giving out CORRECT information that will help someone. Everything I say I can back up WITH studies and going on 8 years of experience with a band inside my body.
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
Naomi,
My advice to Sherry wasn't a criticism of you, and I'm sorry if it sounded that way. I just didn't want her to be confused or distracted by the discussion between you and LilSleeved.
Jean

The biggest mistake I think you made is not continuing to go for your fills . You gave up too soon. Just because others got restriction so soon doesn't mean you will. I struggled just like you. I didn't have any restriction. I felt like I had no band inside of me at all. I could eat whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted. And believe me there were tons of time I did just that!!! The one thing I did right...I always went in for my fills. Because I had the hope that the NEXT fill would be the magic fill. BUT...fill after fill and still nothing. I was about 1 1/2 years past my surgery and I was at 9.8 ccs before I finally got that magic fill that FINALLY made the difference. I also never exercised. Not till I got that fill. Then everything changed for me. I started to exercise and I started to watch and care what I ate. I am now almost at my 4 year anniversary and I have lost about 175lbs!!! And I wear a size 10!!!!
If I had given up at only 6ccs I too would have never lost weight. If I had given up and never exercised I too would have never lost weight. I mean don't get me wrong I compared myself to others too. I used to think...this person or that person has this many fills and lost this much weight how come I haven't. Well you aren't that person. I needed a lot more in my band to lose the weight. You need to stop worrying about others...because of that you gave up.
I still have more weight to lose and I am still working my butt off. Eating healthy, watching my portions and exercising 6 days a week. I don't look to my band to do anything for me. I am the one who controls what I eat. I have completely stopped eating fast foods...no more fried foods...no more white carbs(simple carbs)....no more candy, junk food, soda. There are things I haven't eaten in years. Don't get me wrong I have a splurge once in awhile but I limit my splurges to once a month. For Christmas I had cookies and on Thanksgiving I had cheesecake. So I do splurge....I just don't do it often.
Just remember 2 things...first you aren't other people so stop comparing your journey to others. Second...stop giving up. Losing weight is hard work. It is the second hardest thing I have ever done (the first is being a mother). I am so blessed with my success and my tenacity. You have to keep going even when things get hard. It hasn't been an easy road for me and I am so glad I kept going at it. Because now I can really enjoy the fruits of my labor.
I see mine very three months, just because I don't get fills but still meet with the team to stay on track, monitor how I am progressing and most importantly meet with my nutritionist. You need to have a great relationship with your NUT as that person will help you find the foods that work for you.
The other thing I do as others have stated is log my food. I use MyFitnessPal as it tells me where I will be in five weeks if I continue doing what I am doing. It either helps to kick you in the butt or praise you as you will see the potential loss on your current path.
Go back to the basics. Make sure you use a small plate and place the amount of protein, veggie and good carb you should be eating and only that amount. Make sure you select the foods that you enjoy so that you are satisfied too!
Many people here can give you ideas of items they eat and some of them are really creative.
Good luck. We are here to help you.
Since you have your band and it is not causing problems like reflux, getting stuck etc, it is still a viable tool. Pineview was spot on. You can make this work for you. Once you have the right amount of fill, it won't be so hard, trust me, pizza won't even be looking good! Hang in there, you can do this!
You got great reccomrbdations here .
I got to my doctor when I had gained weight( 15 pounds) I was gonna get a FILL but realized it was emotional eating, so I got honest and told doctor that. Got back on track, made another appt. for 4 weeks later and did greatt! I have another appt. this week I need accountability. Once I am happy where I need to be I will go back every other month.
Also, support group meetings are vitally important! You hate and learn from each others journeys. There is no judging.
Exercise? It will help with dealing with your food addiction. Therapy on feet!
I too have an eating disorder, as the majority of us do! I see a counselor every 2 weeks or more, when I know I will be entering a challenging time.
Journal your foods. get a phone app. o use gitnedd and if you want some food ideas, look at Jeans "what are you eating?" Post. No we may not be perfect band eaters, but we go there for accountability.
