Having a hard time at the end of the day, eating way too many nuts.  Didn't loose any weight this week, but didn't gain either, which is progress for me.  Here's my plan for today

B- fiber one and nonfat greek yougurt.

30 min. on treadmil, triceps with trainer

S- protein shake

L- chicken sausage and sweet potatoe

S- cheese and berries

D- fish and spinach

S- 1/4 c nuts

I tend to overeat nuts, too. They're a healthy snack, in moderation, but food moderation has always been a challenge for me.

One thing that's worked for me has been making my own single-portion packs using snack size zip loc bags. The nuts I eat are usually in my homemade trail mix. I keep the trail mix in a ceramic cookie jar (how's that for irony?) and keep a 1/4 cup measuring cup in the jar.

Also, if I occasionally throw nuts into a salad, I feel less nut-deprived and therefore less likely to overindulge at snack time.

Last night I was craving nuts (pistachios, specifically) when I got home from work. I told myself I could eat some pistachios if I would eat a few raw sugar snap peas first. That turned out to be a good strategy, because the sugar snap peas filled me up fast and also provided the crunch I enjoy.

Hi jean ,
NUTS!?!

I use to proportion them myself , but, it was too easy to snitch a few here in there from a bigger container. So now I buy them in the individual 100 calorie portions. I pay more, but it keeps temptation at bay for me!

And I can not, absolutely, CAN NOT eat cashews!!! Salted or UNsalted!!! It sets me up for a binge!!!!! And if any nut has salt on them, I am in BIG trouble!!!!

Hi VIP!
I can not do an open container of nuts! Even if I proportion them. It's too easy to take a few here and there! I gladly pay more to have them individually sealed!!!
Cause there ain't a NUT yet I haven't said "no" to!

Well, our internet service got back up to speed yesterday, but late in the afternoon a freezing rain began. Since any kind of bad weather affects the internet service out here, I was sure I'd be confined to the house with NO internet service. A fate worse than death. So when I got up this morning, I was glad to see that everything was operating OK. So, Carmen, if you want to carry on doing this thread, let me know, but if not, you can go tend to your Commit to be Fit thread.

So, I am pretty much confined to the house today because of icy roads (and scary neighbors who think that having 4-wheel-drive vehicles enables them to drive 70 mph on icy country roads), but I'm surrounded (and sometimes overwhelmed) by canine warmth.

Today's food plan:
B: protein latte
S: egg beaters scrambled with chopped scallion, sugar snap peas, and cheese
S: cinnamon-oat breakfast cookie
L: eggplant & tomato salad w/ Havarti cheese
S: popcorn
S: raw sugar snap peas
D: sesame-orange shrimp, braised cabbage
S: ?

I over-baked my last batch of peanut butter banana chips and trying to eat the well-done chips has broken the spell of enchantment they had over me. So today I'm going to figure out a different snack to try. I wish I didn't get hungry at all after dinner. Sigh.

Yeah you are back!!!!
Yes I gladly relinquish my duties here. I get up to darn early as it is, and I wouldn't be able to keep up at that pace long term!

So glad you are so socially connected again!

Jean can I get your book, Bandwagon, electronically through my Nook?

Your menu sounds good and well balanced to me!

We're not here to judge, just for accountability and to get menu ideas.

Thanks for the advice Jean and prek3.  I do tend to over do them.  I eat a 1/4 c, but then another 1/4 et..  Not sure I want to eliminate them from my diet, but it may come to that.  I have a whole bunch I bought when they were buy one get one free.  Of course, I shouldn't let that stop me if it's just something I can't control.  I can give them to my parents.  They love nuts.  I am going to see how the next few days go.  I do save them for the end of the day.

Jean- glad to see you back, you were missed!
