Hello Friends! I wanted to pop in here and share my success story. Since April of last year I have been able to keep my weight between 158 and 170. I exercise at least 3 times a week. Nothing major - mostly 45 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill. I am not that disciplined with my eating as some of you are. My band doesn't allow much breakfast so I stick with liquids until around 11 am. I still slime and puke sometimes. I still consider myself a food addict and I truly enjoy food and eating and I will always have to exercise and watch the gravy. Is there anything in life better than food with gravy on it?????? Sex maybe????

I have gone through a divorce and am going to remarry my dream man next year. I am so much happier than I was before in every facet of my life.

My greatest hope for all of us is that we get what we hoped for with whatever surgery or weight loss/maintenance plan we choose. I feel a special kinship with all of you - I feel like you know what it is like to be fat and feel like a failure your whole life as I did. I hope nothing goes wrong with my band later on... and my heart goes out to those who have run into problems. Hugs and love to you all.

What a beautiful bride you will be! Gorgeous!  You are the epitome of a successful long term lap bander --

You listed the key to success - exercise often, but nothing major, that is all it takes to be successful

You listed - Your band does not allow you to eat too much in the morning - that's TYPICAL GREEN ZONE restriction

You listed - You enjoy food, I find that successful lap banders don't diet, they eat all foods, but allow the band to limit intake

Your banded life was pretty much similar to mine, the only difference, I had too many fills/unfills because of a undiagnosed hernia, and I just got a replacement. But I am optimistic with my new band.

You mentioned that you still will slime and puke sometimes -- That is REALLY the life of a lap bander, most successful lap banders will still slime at least once every few months...

I wished other long timers would post more -- Much continued long term success to Youlaugh

Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*,  lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

Thank you to all! I hope the reason so much negative is here is because, like me, those with success stories are too busy out enjoying life as a regular size person that they don't come here!!!!!  I know if I had problems, this would be the first place I would go for support.

Love, Gina

You are correct Gina they have moved on. I know many who don't even know or participate in WLS websites and they are doing fine

I came back on this forum for my own accountability ( I had gained about 15 pounds, lost 10 since I have been back) just 5 more to go! And in hopes of helping others who are new in his journey, as many vets have moved on for various reasons.

Thanks again for posting and comeback and visit us soon,

So, you think that you have to be a certain size to be out "enjoying life?" I just got done dropping off artwork at 2 different galleries... I will be having a show on Friday evening where I'm expected to mingle with people and talk about art. I'm not "regular sized." I'm fairly chubby, actually. But I still go out and "enjoy life."  As I was carrying in my artwork at one of the galleries, a handsome man held the door for me and asked me if I needed help. What?! But I'm not "regular sized?!" how can THAT be?  enlightened

I'm married to my best friend for 24 years now, we go on dates every week, I have friends, I go shopping for nice clothes, I travel... all while being larger than "regular sized." I'm tired of hearing the implication that people ONLY "enjoy life" if they're a certain size.  I enjoy life MORE now than I did when I was in chronic pain from the band.

Wow - I'm super glad you are whistling zippidie-doo-dah no matter your size! We should all follow your example.

Nowhere in my post did I say everyone has to be a certain size to be enjoying life. But even if I had, I was talking about me and expressing my opinion.

Congratulations! On your WLS success and your up coming wedding!!!!! You look Gorgeous!!!!!

I gotta agree with Nana , you are doing all the right things! And you are acknowledging your food issues. I also believe that the vast majority of obese people even us formerly obese have a too addiction, and we must tackle our head issues.

Again, congratulations and have a most BLESSED life,
