Gaining weight 2yrs out after Lapband
I know you are experienced, a lot more then me, but it took several kicks in the a** from her before I got the message and the weight really started coming off.
I was so focused on the number of protein, number and mat of my meal and how many meals and snacks. She said throw the schedule away! ONLY eat when I was hungry! It is still hard, but I mostly eat a snack for breakfast and two 1 to 1 1/2 c meals a day. I track my food, exercise and weight every day. It is motivating to me because MyFitnessPal tells you where you will be in 5 weeks.
Hope this helps.
Me personally the only way I lose weight and keep it off (ya, even with the band) is with exercise. So with a lot of excuses and moaning and groaning I finally dragged my lazy, fat ass to the gym that was 2/1/2 years ago. You notice I said 2 1/2 years and and I got my surgery 4 years ago. Well I had to learn the hard way that the band was not the answer to my weight problems...I am the answer. I started going and it was just walking on a treadmill for 20-30 minutes at first...and I was sweating from that. I now workout 6 days a week for 90 minutes.
I guess what I'm saying here is maybe it's not what you're eating or not eating...maybe the answer to your problems is what you are DOING...or not doing.
It has been my salvation. After I started exercising I started to lose tons of weight. I have lost 175 lbs to date and still losing. I eat healthy but I don't obsess over calories and carbs. I don't need to obsess... I burn over 800 or more calories a day exercising. If I accidentally eat 200 calories or more it won't make or break me. For me my secret is to focus on the activity, eat healthy but I am not going to worry about counting calories and carb ALL of the time!! I am not saying I eat donuts and fast food. I can't even tell you the last time I had either. I gave them up a long time ago. I am saying since I exercise regularly when my friend invited me over to house for her birthday I didn;t feel guilty about have cake and ice cream....why because it was a treat I don;t do very often and I knew it wouldn't hurt my weight loss effort because I worked out.
As far as your diet. I can tell you my diet is pretty boring and repetitive. I like eating the same things over and over. I like eggs for breakfast, cottage cheese for lunch and chicken for dinner...all very rich in protein. Snacks are nuts and fruits. I have stripped most simple sugars from my diet and replaced them with complex carbs. I don't do very much processed foods...meaning no frozen dinners, boxed foods, general convenience foods. I make my food homemade...fresh. As I changed my life and habits I slowly making more and more changes.
I say when you change your life style go all in...dive in the deep end.

Very well said. Seems like you are eating a very balanced, healthy diet. Keep up the great work! I agree, working out is vital to loosing weight, and keeping it off.

Crystal...you've done very well...I dragged my lazy fat @ss to the gym DAY ONE...after I got my band....I remember walking about 1-2 miles per day when I was first banded and I was losing very quickly....and I got a bit spoiled a few months after banding because the weight was dropping off so quickly...then I SLACKED UP ON THE EXERCISE...AND THEN MY WEIGHT LOSS STOPPED AND STALLED and I did not lose another pound...UNTIL...I WORKED MY BAND...
SO...I increased my walks to about 2 miles per day 4/5 days a week and kept getting fills...and I lost about 10 pounds per month....SO THE BAND DOES WORK IF YOU WORK IT...
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
it really Wouldn't matter on your WLS. Aim for the dense protein to keep you satisfied. Sometimes we forget that the Bands job is to just " dim" our appetite, not to give us a " hard stop".
-Weigh and measure out your foods ( info this on Sunday for the week) I tend to eat the same foods for breakfast and sometimes lunch as well. Dinner will vary day to day.
- journal hour food ( post here to the "What are you eating post?" For accountability) or use a phone app. I use my fitness pal app.
- exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
- attend face to face support group meetings through your doctors office
- get into professional counseling ( find out what is keeping you from using your "tool")* I go a few times a month, I see an eating disorder specialist. She helps me a lot!
I posted a post on "emotional eating" you may want to check it out.
Also if you don't know what go eat, go back and read up past "what are you eating today" posts , you can get some great ideas .
Good luck,

Lisa, you can do this!! If your band is tight and snug, sometimes it's very hard to get all your calories in...so you should eat very small meals very often, I like the Unjury protein shakes, they are good you can also sip on those and make sure your proteins are soft and moist like tuna or baked fish or chicken.....and sip on water and walk, walk and walk...if you do this you should see the scale moving....
