Research Study (Basically for NanaB)
I decided to respond outside of the last post, because I do not want to continue to high jack mrslmwalkers post. I hope that she does find support here and in her local group. As I stated, I wish nothing but the best to her, you, and anyone else on OH. It seems rather strange to me that you spent the majority of your response to me YELLING and making assumptions about me and calling me delusional. Certainly, I am not going to dignify most of that with a response....I encourage everyone (including myself) to go into the decision for every WLS with eyes wide open. And, in that vein, I will share one study that intrigued me about the band. There are countless others - you can do a search on medpage, pubmed, etc, if you wish.

Good info. Thanks for sharing it.
I'm glad that the studies are finally being shared. It's time for people to stop being damaged by this device. I've been trying to warn people for years now and have been dismissed. It doesn't make me happy to see people going through complications and being in pain. Not at all.

Gordita,
Sorry if you felt I was screaming, I don't scream, I just correct people. That study is NOT new, I read that about 2 years ago, and that study DID NOT indicate the lap band will be "phased out". The lap band had POOR results when I got mine placed over 8 years ago and I am sure it will continue to have poor results since weight loss is greatly depended upon patient compliance, hard work and exercise. You have to have to be more discipline with the band, that's nothing new. But it still works great for some people.
Again, if you can find me a study where it clearly indicate that the lap band will be phased out, I will appreciate it.
Since you THINK the Sleeve is "cats meow" here is a Study of Sleeve failure, this is about 2 years old too, so not new, news...lol
The Sleeve has been under scrutiny as well....
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
When did I ever say that the sleeve was the "cat's meow"?.....I really don't know where you are coming from. Maybe you are confusing me with someone else.....
And, you better believe that I have read tons of studies on the sleeve as well as the band....not to mention RNY and DS. Like I said....eyes wide open is my policy.

Forgot, to mention, you may want to look up the follow-up results on the sleeve study that you cited. Those were released last year. It is a great paper that compares the VSG, RNY, and band. Lots of stats on complication rate and longterm weightloss success.
