Let's keep this post where it was meant to be: positive. I'm not talking about presenting the band as all sunshine and rainbows. I just want you to post how long your are post op and how much weight you have lost WITH THE BAND.

I want the people who are newly banded and freaking out about all the negatives posts to hear something good for a change.

Here I am. I'm 9+ years out. Preop, 376 pounds. Maintaining at 175-185 pounds lost.

I have nothing negative to say.  I regained my weight because I didn't LEARN how to eat.  It is no fault of the band.  The band is a great tool.  I know it to be true.

You are a great encouragement to me. Congratulations on your weight loss and new life.

Thank you so much for posting your success and weight losses!!!  Banded July 26, 2012 - down 39 pounds.

Going for 4th fill next week. Doc believes in taking it slow with the fills. Have 100 pounds to go. I have not had any trouble with the band when I stay away from foods I know I should not eat in the first place. (yeast rolls, fried chicken of any description, dry meats - meat has to be MOIST and cut up into small pieces, and eating way too big of a bite at one time or way too much volume for one sitting.) You have to be aware and you have to take your time eating.

The band is the best thing I have ever done for myself. 2013 is going to be a great year!!!

Thanks for the post, Bette. So glad you keep hanging around these parts.  I haven't been on this site much but not because of any problems.  I'm truly out enjoying my banded life.

I started out at 271 lbs and hover around 195 these days thanks to the Holidays. I lost the bulk of the weight during the 1st 18 months since getting banded and its been slow since but I don't exercise like I should.  I know if I set my mind to it, this tummy would shrink but when I look at my life, Im HAPPY.  I'm wearing cute size 14-16 clothes versus size 22-24 size tents and my hubby thinks I'm sexy as Hell.  After 26 years of mariage (and an empty nest since last year), we feel like newlyweds.

In the past  have wished I had opted for the VSG, thinking THAT may what I need to get to a size 10-12 BUT for many reasons, I am finally satisified that I made the right choice because I have no band issues.   I have always kept my band on the loose side to avoid many of the sad issues of having a too tight band. Also, if I had it any tighter, I couldnt swallow my pain pills withut getting stuck  (learned THAT the hard way).

Who knows..maybe 2013 will be the time Im ready to dive into exercise.  Fingers crossed.  Just know for now, I dont regret my choice one bit.

Happy new year y'all!

Six years and  eight months out. Lost 109lbs in just over 15 months. Too thin! Had to put a bit back on. Now wobble between 154 and 164. Even at 164, still wearing US size 10s.

Only problem a leak in the tubing a couple of years ago. Repaired and fine ever since.

The band changed my life.  I am 62 years old and have taken up 5k running for the first time in my life. I am active, fit, happy in my body.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
