Endoscopy with a side of lemon

My CT scans all said, "normal" too. Turned out that my stomach had twisted into a Figure 8 and I was about ready to kick the bucket. I'm not sure HOW that didn't show up in a CT scan image.

If they're recommending removal- definitely- then there's something wrong.  And I'm very sorry you're experiencing it.

I wanted removal over a month ago, but the surgeon insisted it wasn't band related and wanted more testing.  CT prior to that visit had shown a possible slippage and even with the report in hand, horrible heart burn and pain just under my ribs that radiated to my chest and shoulder and started just diaganol from my port.  Mmmmhmmm.  Well the Upper GI series he ordered came back normal with no reflux.  My GI is the one who ordered the endoscopy.  when I confirmed his findings today his words were "I was going along and was suddenly like, whoa!"  LOL

I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I had a normal endoscopy too and then 8 weeks later, an emergency surgery to remove my band. Above all, listen to your body and report back to your doctors anything that concerns you. I had to essentially scream from the mountain tops that something was seriously wrong with me, since everything seemed " normal" as far as the tests were concerned. I came close to dying from toxins building up in my system.

This has been an ongoing issue.  It gets bad, gets better, gets bad.  I had it up to my eyeballs when I met with my surgeon in October but he wanted further testing as he didn't think my pain was band related.  Yeah....well, guess I'll show him when I see him next week.

Here is are pictures of my endoscopy if this helps you. My endoscopy was normal, perfect placed band, although it did not show my pouch was dilated nor did not show how large my hernia was, but the Gastro doc was able to see the hernia. I removed my last name and other personal identifiable information for privacy.

With a normal band you should not be able to see the band inside of the stomach, if the band has migrated inside the stomach the band needs to come out.

Wishing you good luck.

Thank you for sharing!  I was pretty sure he said it was my band, but wanted to be sure as I was still post anesthesia and the chat with him was kind of quick.  I will post my picture, too!

I am soooo sorry you are going through this. A friend of mine had her band erode last year , it took time for her to heal. She lost more weight in her healing process.

I haven't lost any weight with the band since it was placed, basically.  My husband's job requires us to move a lot and we moved from the midwest to Florida.  It took 6 months before I could get a surgeon to see me.  I think I had 3 fills with him in the year we were there.  Then we had to move to the Baltimore area and I fought for months to get to see a surgeon.  When I finally saw one they did an upper GI and found mild dilation.  Radiologist recommended no more fills, so I didn't.  The surgeon's office never called me back so I figured it was normal for their standards.  Then I got sent to a surgeon at Hopkins who only did the consult because I was thinking about revision and he took the fluid out because of issues with my meds not wanting to go down.  But he wouldn't manage my band so I got sent to another surgeon at the original practice and this is where we were.  When I was in his office a month ago after being sick and in pain since September, I told him I just wanted it out.  I was done.  Here we are now another month later and I still feel like crap.  But at least now I know it will come out.
