New Lap Band Study: Impact of Lap-Band Size on Weight Loss

I find this entire article to be very interesting regarding weight loss based on the size of band. This article suggest that women had more weight loss success with the AP small band than women with the AP large band, but interestingly enough men had a greater weight loss with the AP large band than they had with the AP small band.
Here is a brief findings of the study:
Three hundred ninety-four patients met our inclusion criteria; 230 (58 %) in the APS group and 164 (42 %) in the APL group, with 326 (83 %) female and 68 (17 %) male patients. For the overall cohort, EBWL was 38.8 % for the APS band vs. 27.7 % for APL band at 1 year.
Here is a link to the entire study published May of 2012 on the outcomes regarding complications and success with the AP band system. A very interesting read.
I have the AP small band and it is too early for me to say how my restriction will be, but I can say that I feel 100 percent better than when I had my old band.
I remember with my old 4cc band it took several months before my port pain totally went away, with my new APS band, my port soreness went way after 2 weeks, I feel absolutely no port pain, I guess surgeon skill matters too.
I
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
I can't recall where I read it (but I do know it wasn't in the National Enquirer), but somewhere I read that most men need larger size bands because their bodies (inside and out) are bigger than most women's bodies.

As Reader's Digest will tell you, laughter is the best medicine.
My advice may be crap, but I'm usually good for a laugh!
Hope you feel better soon.
