Antispasmodic medication is helping!

My GI doctor prescribed an antispasmodic medication to help with food getting stuck. I thought that my stoma was narrowed by scar tissue developing between the band and stomach tissue, but it seems that my problem is more of a generalized GI motility disorder, not food getting stuck in my stoma...it doesn't get to the stoma, causing esophogeal spasms. Tonight I stuffed half a bell pepper with ground meat, veggies and some cheese, and baked it. The rest of the family (daughter, SIL, husband, 4 teens) ate sloppy joes. I felt "stuck" about 1/2 way through my meal and stopped. I placed one of the little pills under my tongue to dissolve and within 90 seconds the discomfort passed and so did the food. It's hyoscyamine...this was the 3rd time I tried it for this problem and it's worked every time.

That's good news, Steph. I hope it continues to work... or the problem goes away (which would be even better, of course.)

nice! that's great news to hear after all the discomfort you were having with eating. i hope it continues to help. will it work to repair or fix the underlying condition that is causing it in the first place?

Hopefully this little relief will result in something more permanent.
A nice lil victory for you today!

Thanks everyone...I'm hoping for continued improvement.  Pathology should be back from my EGD soon.
