Keep reading and learning. There are a lot of good people here that will share the good and the bad. It is all good information to have!
I am very glad I made the decision to be banded. I had 160 lb to lose and am down 135 so far.
Hi Bunch!
Just read posts and check out profiles before wanting a friend. Ya can never tell what kinda people lurk around here! LOL
Don't dread the eval. Its a formality, and honestly you will want to continue seeing someone professionally, as this WL journey really is amazing, and lots of head adjustments need to be made. Because reality is it all begins in your head.
Our "BANDS" are mere "TOOLS", actually any WLS is just a "tool", make sure to use all the resources available to you so you can be successful. Where I work, I am the only "Bander", but I am the only one really putting into practise what I was taught to do from dr. office. I am sure you have come across those WL folks who have gained their weight back? Cause its our stomachs they Band, not our thick heads.
TO Do now,
no more soda, no more carbonated drinks or drinks with calories and NO more alcohol *at least they really do not want you doing that for at least a year after surgery (we become "cheap" dates after a few drinks, actually I do after just 1 drink, LOL) **I use to drink well over 2 six packs of Coke daily!!! I do not miss it!
stop drinking with your meals, practice waiting 30 minutes to drink after a meal and slowly extend it to an hour.
eat with a baby spoon taking small bites
eat off of small plates
practice chewing your food well, its actually healthier to chew your food to death. and be mindful, put fork down etc...
EXERCISE! Any movement! It helps to be successful in the long run. Plus to move the gass pain out of your system you will need to move, walk, to get it out of your system. So get moving now, it will only help you in the long run emotionally. *I am an exercise fiend! I have done 2 Half Marathons and a couple of 10K and 5 Ks, all walking, I don't run. Its a nessesity not a luxury.
Start carrying a water bottle with you, hydration is vitally important to any WLS and even for "normal" folks.
Have you met up with nutritionist yet? Have you attended any support group through your tentative dr. office? this allows you an oppertunity to hear about real life experiences. EVERYONE just LOVES to share, w are such happy folks in our "honeymoon" stage!
One of our own from OH, Jean M. has written a LapBand book! She is a wealth of information!!!! She posts the daily Food post "What are you eating today ? post.
Anyway, check us out and ask away,I hope I haven't over whelmed you? Sorry if I did.

Congrats on your decision to get the band! Stay active on the boards and stay positive and you will do great.
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
Welcome! You have made a decision to change your entire life and it truly is the hardest work (and most rewarding) you will ever do. There is not one area of your life that will not be impacted and you will be required to examine every ha*****oice, and each corner of your mind. It will be a wild ride so hang on.
Come here daily if possible, ask a ton of questions, get to support groups (I started going a full 6 months before my surgery), and research, research, research. You want to be the best informed pre-op ever.
Good luck,
Sue
