Hip pain
I have had lots of hip surgery patients and surgery is fairly easy to recover from these days, but the younger you are, the easier it goes. In the end if you feel that surgery is the solution, it will probably change your mobility significantly. Cortisone is usually a short term relief, but you might want to try it and see. Good luck!!
I had a hip replacement at age 53 and oh my goodness what a wonderful thing to not be in pain anymore!!! I was bone on bone so it was a horrible pain, I could barely walk and should have had it done sooner but my first ortho told me I had to lose a bunch of weight well I knew that wouldn't happen so just kept waiting till I was so bad my femur had ground into my hip bone! Yep that was painful. It's a big surgery but oh so worth it to feel better, I have NO pain now. They had me up an carefully walking the day after surgery. I would do it all again if needed!

Sue, I had some hip pain too after I had lost over 100 pounds with my band, I think you lose bone density after massive weight loss, I had to double up on my vitamin D, I still take about 2 1000 IU daily. And over time my pain went away I hope you find relief soon.
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
Nana, I just had a bone density test and am good there!
Just got home from the hospital. Had the injection was painful, but not as bad as I had prepared myself for. I drove home. I am hoping that it will work for a while. I think I am prepared now to have the surgery when it starts hurting again.
Thank you all for you experiences and comments. It really makes me feel better about the whole situation.
I am so ready to get back on the golf course and tennis courts so I think I am ready.
I'll keep you posted on how the injection works.
Bone on bone is the primary reason for needing joint replacement. The steroid injection may or may not calm things down. I had injections of artificial synovial fluid in my knee (very painful, but effective) due to having a 15mm chondral lesion of the femur. The reason I had WLS was to qualify for knee replacement (BMI
