Starting over
I would appriciate any help starting over. I am so disapointed in myself. I had lapband surgery in 2007 and did good until my mom passed in 2009. Then I went back to college and now have an LVN degree. Yahoo but now I need to get back in the swing of things I would love to hear from others that were able to get back on track.
I am 5 yrs out, I was hanging out in the Lap Band for grads forum. But I had a 10 pound gain, and I have been here on this forum for accountability.
Anyway, welcome,
Prek3

Exercise is not a LUXURY!
Exercise is a NECESSITY
The very first thing you must do is to forgive yourself for being human. Without that you won[t get very far. Make an appointment with your surgeon and nut and lay it all out. They are there to help you. Start way back at the beginning and weigh and measure everything and log it. This lets you see where you are at. After you know where your eating is now you can begin to go back to 3-4 oz. of dense protein, veggies, and some fruit if you have room and it doesn't trigger cravings. Pound the protein and get an absolute minimum of 60 g. per day. More is better. Don't be afraid to plan protein snacks between meals if you need. Get in that minimum of 64 oz. of fluids, too. If you are like me if you aren't eating properly you don't exercise, either, so get moving even if it is only 10 minutes a day. Move now then increase as you can.
Post on here frequently, it helps. You can do this! Many have.
Sometimes it's that kick in the ass you need to get you going. When things weren't going my way the 18 months and I wasn't losing weight. I started to just sit around and feel sorry for myself. I am so glad I got up and did something. Because I could have still been 285lbs and feeling sorry for myself. Instead of 182lbs and feeling great!!!
It starts with that first step. Wake up tomorrow with the idea you are going to eat healthy and be active...then do it!!! Before you know it you will be losing!!!

I agree with you. I have been working on mind issues. Have you all noticed how your mind really works on you! But I am on day 2 day everyday is a new day. I did this once and my band helped me. I will do this again for the last time. It is easy to lose weight but hard to keep it off.
You aren't alone, and we all understand. None of us is perfect, and all of us wake up every day with a new commitment to do well. I have managed to stop my weight gain, and very slowly and turning the tide back to weight loss (weight gain of 43 pounds, have now lost nine of those). One day at a time....
