I am extremely grateful and blessed for this second chance at weight loss and maintain my weight, I assumed that since my employer had an exclusion to Bariatric surgery that they would only pay for the removal of my band, but they paid 100 percent to repair my hernia, remove the old band and replace a new one. But I have excellent insurance that pays 100 percent for any type of hospitalization, so this helped.

I guess if you have a complication and it is "medically necessary" it overrides any type of employer exclusion clause. But they will not pay for a brand new surgery or a revision to another type of weight loss surgery, which I did not want anyway.

I just got my explanation of benefits and my surgery costs were $17,500  My costs were $0. However, I did not pay a dime for my first surgery also....

Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*,  lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

That is great! I thought I had great ins too, but ended up with a 15% copay of about $2500. Ouch!

Glad to hear you are doing well now!
