Naomi, the title of this thread made me laugh, and I sure needed a laugh. All I could think was, "There she goes again!"
I think it may be too soon to judge whether the shoulder pain is a new stop signal or if it's related to irritation from the surgery.
I'm glad you and your new band are getting along so well. I promise not to tell Suzie you're cheating on her.

Yep...that's me silly most of the time...I try to make humor of this band adventure....lol....Yep I think you are right Jean, because I ate yesterday and I did not experience the shoulder pain at all. I hoping it's part of healing...but I learned my lesson of measuring my food even if it's full liquids...

Hi Nana-
That left sided shoulder pain is most likely a VERY hard stop. Technically, you should still be on small quantities of mushy food-even though you have had another band. AND you should not sleep on your left side for 3 weeks. The reason for these is that the sutures need to lay down fibrous bands-scar tissue- to keep the band in place. If you are not careful and diligent, you may slip your new band. Please call and speak to the nutritionist on Monday and have them send/fax the schedule for food choices- it is very neat and tidy- very easy to follow and will continue to assure safety with the new surgery. If they cannot/will not send/fax, let me know and I will look mine up and get it to you, okay?
Glad to hear you are doing well- keep up the good work!!

Hi Susan,
Thanks for the tip! That's very interesting about not laying on the left side, sometimes I have my laptop in my bed with me and sometimes I sort of lean over to the left and type, I will stop doing this. But luckily I don't sleep on my side since I've been home, it was not comfortable and I've been sleeping in a sitting up position with my head elevated with pillows due to the soreness of my stomach, but that has pretty much gone.
You know maybe I should have been only eating about 4 teaspoons of soup per meal instead of eating about 1/4 to 1/2 cup. The thing is with my new band, liquids goes down quickly and gently, I remember when I was post op with my old band, liquids and mushy foods went down very slow and if I was not careful things would sit in my chest, but I am happy with how this band feel, it's much more easy on me than the old band, but at the same time, I have to measure more carefully of how much I am eating to prevent a hard stop.
But I have not had the shoulder pain in 2 days, so I am thinking it could have been a combination of healing and a hard stop. I woke up from surgery with very bad pain in both of my shoulders and diaphragm area and now that is gone, my port pain is gone also, I am amazed at how much I've healed this quickly. My first band surgery was much more worse.
I will call Dr Ku's office tomorrow and ask for a list of soft foods that I can eat, but I would think at this point, soft mushy foods are appropriate such as soupy grits, soupy oatmeal and cream of wheat and pureed tuna and egg salad....this is the worst phase. The thing is it does not matter if I sip clear broth or thicker soups if I don'****ch it I get very full very quickly and I want to avoid getting full, I want to just get satisfied so I guess I will have to measure and don't eat but about 4 teaspoons per meal, even though...that's starvation lol. I am happy the scale is moving though....
And you are right, I don't want to screw my band up and I've gotten rusty on what to do post op....I've gone through too much for that to happen, and for the next 2 weeks, I will keep my meals measured, I think at 3 weeks I can began to eat mushy refried beans, that was one of my favorite mushy foods with my old band.
If you don't mind can you send me a PM with what you eating at my stage of 12 days post op? Also I will send you a friend request.
