How much do you get sick with the lapband weekly ??? or daily ???
JeanM has said it all for me.
If I were bringing food back as often as once a week, I wuld be getting fluid taken out of my band.
In my 6 1/2 years of being banded, bringing food back has never been the norm. It has never been painful for me. Discomfort, yes, occasionally. Bringing food back, perhaps an average of two, maybe three times a month. And it has always been my own fault for careless eating.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I havent posted in quite some time, mainly because I used to be a BIG band supporter....until evrerything went haywire and I got very very sick. I guess I had what you would call an immune reaction to the band after having it in for two years my body created antibioties. I had to have it removed, my immunologists said that the band had set off an autoimmune disease I was predisposed to, Lupus....I have been battling this now for a year and they cant seem to get me into remission. If I had to do it all over again.....I wouldnt have gotten the band. If you have any family history of autoimmune diseases know that having the band can put you at higher risk of developing immune issues.

Very rarely --- mostly when I am eating out with others and I carelessly eat too much, or take too big a bite of something --- but certainly not daily or weekly or even monthly.
I do find that if I have a 'stuck' episode, where I have to regurgitate food, that if I do not go to very soft food for about a day, I seem to have a recurrence -- like my esophogus gets inflamed and stays that way if I don't let it heal.
There are many, many other reasons to be re-considering banded life (erosion, slippages, statistics on weight loss achievement, etc) than focusing on 'getting sick'.
Think twice, cut once ------ I have had great success with my band, but so many people do not ---- check out revision boards to see how many are from the Band to something else.
I only threw up every time I ate solid foods. So I didn't eat solid foods. Boy, did I lose weight. I also became anemic and malnourished, my hair started falling out, I had no energy and was in chronic pain from the damage the band was causing my diaphragm and Vagus nerves. But, boy howdy, I sure lost weight fast. I'm in the "success" column according to my crappy surgeon. Now that I've gotten the band removed, I'm fat again. But I hardly ever get sick anymore. And I have enough hair for 2 peoples' heads. I still have lingering referred left shoulder pain, gastritis, hiatal hernia, esophageal issues...all from the damage the band caused... and the silver lining is... I'm fat again. Oh. Wait. ****
Before you make your final decision, let me go on record saying, "THE BAND SUCKS. It disappoints most people and it's damaging." Allergan is looking to sell its corporation because of falling sales. Doctors are starting to refuse to do gastric banding because of the complications inherent with the procedure. Save yourself a lot of disappointment and look into alternate surgeries. Seriously. Don't make a huge mistake. I used to try to be more diplomatic, but now I'm just blunt because I've been saying the same thing for 10 years. I hate seeing other people get hurt.

Never more than once a day. That is because I would go on liquids for a day or two every time. Spent a lot of time living on liquid. If you don't mind a liquid diet, you won't get stuck or up chuck you food much. The surgeon came out and said last time I talked to him that the band is good if you can handle a liquid diet.
When I had my band I would vomit often...several times a week. Some days, I was unable to eat any vegatables, not matter how they were cooked or how long I chewed, other days cooked veggies were fine. Same with eggs, and chicken, and ground meat, and steak. If I lived on tofu, fish, protein drinks, cheese and fruits, I would not vomit/PB. That was not acceptable to me.
I also got "sick" from GERD eroding my esophagus from the band complications. I also lost a lot of motility in my esophagus. So, how much did I get sick from the lapband? Chronically. And bad enough that I was unable to convert to the sleeve (my first choice) although I am now doing wonderfully post RNY.
Good luck with your decision.
I too have GERD which has not resolved since having the band out. I have a hard time digesting foods and have stopped absorbing calcium, it has been low now matter how much I supplement. The band left a lot of inflamation in my stomache and small bowel. I cant have a revision because I am no longer a canidate due to positve IBD test. Maybe sleeve but dr wont touch me now :(
