My plan is 'it's one meal'.
we are going to my sisters house. I will make mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. I make enough to give to my neighbors --we used to do Thanksgiving together and I always did the potatoes, so I still make them for her and her family.
We will get up early and walk the dog for about an hour. I am planning a rather big breakfast for us .. Eggs and sausage, toast for my husband. Then we will drive to my sisters .. About 3 hours, planning to get there around noon.
We are all big football fans, so will watch the game while I help in the kitchen.
Dinner will be at half time of the Cowboys game, probably ......we don't do appetizers. Just a big meal.
i will eat some turkey and a tablespoon of potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing and broccoli and be satisfied.
when everyone else has pie, I will have my pumpkin spice pudding ----yum!
a walk while the husbands do the dishes, some board games and a drive home and Thanksgiving will be over for another year.

this will be my second thanksgiving with my best friend's family with the band. i am aware of my limitations and what will make me sick. i eat on kid sized plates and still use my silverware. in fact, last year they had to mail it back to me because i forgot the darned things. i still measure out and count things and they know i can't eat the dressing (sniffle) so they make me wild brown rice in its place, which is very kind of them. i can't gorge on the food even if i wanted to and 'Ma' can cook. my best friend got her cooking skills from this woman. my husband calls the food 'sex on a fork' because it's so good. he looks forward to the one time a year we can get down there and he can indulge in her cooking. well that, and Wawa hoagies.

Well... this was supposed to be my first year off from cooking. UGH, my son and his wife were late closing on their new house so... I have to cook again! It would not be bad except for they will be moving most of the day so I will cook and have both kids all day. Along with that they have invited a co-worker who has no family here in RI and they feel bad so won't tell him he can't come.
I really don't mind too much but was looking forward to being the guest not the hostess again. The kids will help me burn calories so it is not too bad I guess. I hope it will be warm to take them out in the afternoon to play!
I plan on eating on a little plate and a tablespoon of my favorites.
I do plan on buying a couple of pies and make a sugar free pudding pie for me.
After, I plan on sending most the food away with the kids. LOL
Around our house, thanksgiving, Christmas, other holidays aren't much different than other family gatherings, from a food perspective. We live with our DD, SIL and 4 teen grandkids and we have 3 other grandkids aged 21,19 and almost 15...13 people without girlfriends, boyfriends and just friends. It helps because I no longer plan to eat...I plan to see and spend time with those I love. The focus isn't on the food, but on the company.
...as with any meal, I will be cooking and enjoying a bite or two of everything that is "safe", meaning it will go down and stay down.
i think for thanksgiving this year, we will have about 30 people, 6 labradoodes, 2 pugs, a King Charles cavalier and the guest of honor, Roy, our sons 15 year old huge yellow lab, who will most likely not see another thanksgiving...
On Friday we fly to San Jose to see Andrea Boccelli at HP pavilion with some good friends, then spend 4 days seeing friends and family in the Bay Area.
I will be cooking and having T-day at my house. Last year was the first time I had it as my father passed. We will be having the whole thing. There will be me & DH, 3 DD's & their DH's and four grandkids. My Sister is coming and my be bringing her DS. Also 2-4 dogs
This year will be hard without a Tool. I am leaving on a cruise 12/2 so I have to keep that in mind.
