Poll: What type of band do you or did you have? Even EX bandsters
on 11/19/12 9:13 pm
I am just curious as which band people were less/more satisfied with.
Please list the type of band and size, example AP small/Large 10cc/14cc or Realize, C., if you are newly banded also list the type of band you have.
How long did it take you to find your sweet spot? Or did you ever find your sweet spot, or have you had it removed.
Thanks
Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*, lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!
Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight down
I have the Realize Band. It took almost 18 frustrating months before I found my sweet spot. I am amazingly tolerant to the band...I guess. I have about 9.8 ccs in my band and can eat whatever I want just in small amounts.
I have been very blessed and have not had any problems so far. I have lost a total of 172 lbs and still losing. I haven't had a fill since 8/2011. I don't feel I need one any time soon. I hope I stay problem free forever.

Thanks Crystal,
You've done an amazing job with your band! 172 is awesome! Do you have the larger 14cc band? Yes, it's VERY hard to find that sweet spot, I think I've only found it 2 times in my journey and it disappeared after losing weight, and I continued to chase it like a drug high...

No I hvae a Realize 11 cc band (so mine is pretty full at 9.8 ccs. I wouldn't really say I have achieved my sweet spot because I can still eat a little too much if I allow myself to. But if I go much tighter I feel that I would be in danger of getting stuck or not being able to eat certain foods (like fruit or lean protein). Right now I can eat whatever I want in smaller amounts, I just have to use my willpower and the band I was given. And I like it that way. I'm afraid to keep my band too tight. I knew someone that did and she lost her band.
I still have about 30 more pounds to go...I was a heavy weight bandster...I was 354 lbs when I started my journey.
I had a Realize band. I never got more than 3cc in it and usually less. When we would try for a bit more it almost always had to be removed. The good thing was that I hit my sweet spot on my first fill. I even had good restriction without any fluid. That wasn't a good thing because I kept getting stuck even after 3 months of no fluid. Sadly, I lost my band in August. RIP poor baby.

Thanks Granny for your feedback! You know some people have good restriction with no fluid from day one, with the band being a bit tight, that sounds like it was your case, but just like that old 4cc band MANY people loved it..but it was too hard on the esophagus and pouch the reason they discontinued it, I wish you a very uneventful and successful journey with your Sleeve.

I tried to keep my band on the loose side from the beginning, hoping to avoid problems but my body decided otherwise. I am gradually adapting to my sleeve and have stopped hating it. While I sorely miss my band I am ok with this tool and consider myself blessed that I was allowed to get another tool instead of going it on my own. I knew without a doubt that I could not do that.
